I dont know the full details of your case but under normal rules your case is bound to be refused because of being overstayed. But if you argued article 8 rights etc then you might get Discreationary Leave to remain but thats not easy to get and you face a very long wait, do you have kids and did yo...

Depends if you know your stuff very well and your case is very straight foward, if you got douts then get a lawyer or solicitor, dont get them cheap no win no fee ones. Get a proper experienced one.

My advise is get a good solicitor asap, because you now need a good reason for them not to refuse you, but if they do then he would have a right to appeal and when you have a good solicitor or adviser with a good argument then you could win the appeal.
