Re: Romein / 4C claim for citizenship by double descent

I really, really appreciate this insight! Thank you @secret.simon!

This board is always so invaluable, truly one of the best & most generous places on the internet.

I'll post back my timeline/status when I get a decision.

Thanks!

Re: Romein / 4C claim for citizenship by double descent

I'm so excited to submit this application! The Form UKM looks pretty straightforward to fill out, but I'm still stumped on this question: State how your Mother acquired citizenship of the United Kingdom and Colonies: If this was by registration or naturalisation, give the certificate number: Going o...

Re: Romein / 4C claim for citizenship by double descent

Thank you for this advice! Wow this is great news if she can go this route; it will really save us so much money. So, while your mother's mother would have been born a British subject/CUKC by descent, she would not have been able to register your mother as a British citizen, while her brother (if sh...

Romein / 4C claim for citizenship by double descent

Hi all, I'm in the process of helping my mum apply for her ILR as she's coming up to the end of her 5 year Ancestry Visa. However, in researching the ILR steps I became aware of the Romein ruling on citizenship by double descent. I'd like to explore if this route is available to her instead of ILR+c...

Re: Tier 1 Exceptional Talent application (non tech)

I applied for Exceptional Talent and was given Exceptional Promise instead, from the Arts Council route. I didn't have to do anything different.

Re: Tier 1 Exceptional Talent application (non tech)

Even if photographs and films of me have been exhibited in the UK? Thank you for your help Unfortunately, no. I know the Arts Council pretty well, and feel certain their assessors wouldn't consider your skateboarding work to fall under their criteria for arts. Also you need to have letters of recom...

(Oh sorry, your question was for inside the UK. Not sure where to find that. I don't think its going to be any longer than the international guidance; maybe shorter.)

No, you cannot use set(m) if you hold a tier 1 visa.

A spouse visa requires 5 years residence for ILR.
OK great. Thank you! I just wanted to be extra-sure!

Re: Tier 1 Exceptional Talent application (non tech)

Hey just to add some answers to this thread for those who may still be looking: I applied for and received the Exceptional Talent (Exceptional Promise) visa in 2015, through the Arts Council England endorsement route (I am a visual arts curator.) I then helped 2 other friends apply for & receive...

SET(M) from Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent)?

Hi there, I am married to a British citizen, but when I moved (back) to the UK in 2015, his income was not high enough for me to be eligible for the spousal visa. So instead I applied for and received the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent [Exceptional Promise]) visa, for 3 years. Since it expires in Decemb...

Hi there, I'm just looking at this again... Does anyone know ANY visa category that I might switch into from EEA unmarried partnership, without having to leave the country? I thought I might be able to switch into Tier 2 (General) but they don't let you switch from this visa category, so you have to...

I'm on EEA2 as unmarried partner of EEA resident in the UK. I've been in the UK for 6.5 years, first two on working holiday visa, then through my EU partner of 7 years. I recently lost my passport and had the brutal realization that I need to reapply all over again in order to get my visa replaced i...

Stolen passport

Hi there I'm sure this question is in the forum already but I can’t find it just yet. My passport was stolen recently and with it my EEA family member permit (I applied and received the permit on the EEA2 form, valid until Nov of this year). I just spoke to UKBA and it seems that I can’t get this pe...

Refused EEA4, unmarried partner - helpful for others?

I just wanted to post that my EEA4 application has been refused. I'm a bit gutted but as my current EEA2 permission doesn't expire until late 2012 (and thank goodness it was free to apply!) I'm ok for the moment - but wanted to share the response I got in case its helpful for others, as I researched...

Thanks for the advice. Yes I would agree my residence clock started November 07 but is there a required number of years residence in the UK for the EEA4 (for me) or is it soley dependent on the five years of unmarried, cohabitating partnership? I could just submit the application but as both my part...

anybody have any ideas? I am basically wondering if there is a residency requirement for me/us to have been in the UK for five years before applying using EEA4 - or whether 5 years relationship and 2.5 in the UK with a 'valid' visa type is long enough (though its been near 5 years in the UK total). ...

Switching from EEA unmarried partner visa to other visa?

I am currently on a unmarried partnership visa with my European partner. We've been in the UK for almost five years, where the first two years I was on a holiday working visa then switched to an unmarried partnership visa in November 2007. From what I understand, I would be eligible for Indefinite L...
