Hi Kitty, Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. She has a family and tied to a job here so that should be ok. Sorry I forgot to mention that. Yep I will be going back to NZ at the same time after our holiday. She should have enough funds (£800) in her account, even tho I have more than enough. Th...

Didnt go through with Marriage Visa - ok to visit UK on hol?

Hi As my title says (sorry, couldnt find a shorter way of doing it). My girlfriend and I were approved a Marriage visa in Sept'10. After coming to the UK and spending time with each other we realised we was not ready for marriage (I know, I know!). So she went back to NZ before the visa expired. I'm...

sorry I must have got my wires slightly crossed.

What I meant was, can we apply for the 'further leave to remain' visa from outside the UK?

I ask because we dont have enough time to apply before her fiancee visa expires.
If that makes sense?

Sorry and thanks

Many thanks for that sushdmehta.

One more question please. What if we were to get married in the uk and then she returns home before the visa expires. Then she applies for the Wife / indefinate leave to remain visa and comes back?

Is that possible, is that allowed?

Thanks

We're Married, now what to do?

Hi there, I am looking to marry my girlfriend who is from NZ and over here on 6 months fiancee visa. Once we get married, is there anything else we need to do? Do we have to apply for another visa? If so, does it need to be completed and sent off (or approved?) before her current visa expires? Many ...

Thanks for that Casa. I suspected that might be the case, but thought it would be best to check in case there was any other way.

I'm guessing the only option we have then is to apply fo an extension on the current visa, which I assume would only be at the very maximum 6 months??

Thanks

We have only been living together for the past 6 months during the visa period. She originally came over on a 2 year working visa (when we met) so she was renting with someone. As her visa expired she went back to NZ, then after 6 months or so of unbarable pain apart went with the only option we had...

Thanks for the replies.

Yes that is what I meant, we want to both stay and live in the uk but dont want to get married just yet (maybe in a few years time like regular couples).

Thanks

Can the marriage visa be changed or extended?

I'll get straight to the point and as per the above we was wondering if there was anyway to change the visa we were granted. I know it souds odd that we want to change the visa that we asked for but I guess we applied for it without thinking it through properly and out of sheer desperation of just w...

ah ok thanks for that. Im sorry, I did mean to say that I have the originals at home and was thinking about scanning them over to her to speed up time, but if that could be an issue, I will send them over to her in the post. As we would be staying at my parents place for the time being, I'm assuming...

Well it's probably not worth the risk especially with the amount of money involved. You can see (from tv lol) they are void of any ability to understand each case is unique through different circumstances. That's funny you should mention that, I did read about getting married in Denmark, but its som...

Ah ok thanks very much for the info, I didnt think of it like that.

I guess it would sound iffy to the officer, if she came over to get married (our reason would be to spend time together, live together blah blah) and then she went back home.

Thanks so much, your knowledge and help is invaluable

Thanks mrlookforward that has helped a lot! After more discussions with my girlfriend (thanks to the information you have provided), she thinks the Marriage vist visa would be the best option. We would get married here, then she would return home, and then apply for a spouse visa. After all that I'm...

MPH80 is correct, I meant that could my girlfriend apply for fiance visa now and by the time she is here we could get married. My only concern was the issue of sending passports off (if correc). Sorry for any confusion caused. Its beginning to make sense, but am still unsure of what is required (pap...

Ah ok thanks for that. My girlfriend thought she read somewhere that a visa takes up to 6 months to process and that you need to send off both passports. Is that correct?

Nope unfortunately she doesn't qualify for ancestry visa, that might of made things a bit easier.

Hi there, Thanks for the replies that is really helpfull. It looks like we have a few of options, none of which seem cheap, typical Britain eh! We were looking to do the one that was quickest (and hopefully cheapest), but it doesnt look like that will be the case. Is it possible for us to apply for ...

Hi there, I'll try not to go on too long as this must come up a lot (although i did search and couldnt find anything). I have been scanning the web for weeks trying to find what I need. After spending countless hours on the government visa & immigrations sites I am still none the wiser. I'm a UK...
