Settlement Checking Service Question (Urgent!)

Hi, i have a Settlement Checking appointment tomorrow, do I need to have a filled in SET(M) form when I arrive? Or do they have them and fill it in with you? I've made a couple of mistakes on the form and my printers packed up, do I need to get a new copy (and have my wife fill it out LOL) ready for...

ILR, FLR, spousal + dependent visa, cohabitation proof.

Hi, My wife and stepson are here on spousal & dependent child visa and I'm getting ready for application for ILR. Visas were granted feb 2012 so we are under old rules. I'm a bit worried about my cohabitation proof. I have the following... NHS tax credit medical exemption certificate, joint lett...

Thanks, I had no idea about the cohabitation things. I dont know if we could find official documentation for every 4 months. My stepmom comes and stays for one day almost every week, would a statement from her be any good? We probably have a few letters from the school, the doctors, and the tax cred...

IRL for spouse and dependent child.

I've read as much as I can about ILR and remain somewhat confused. My wife and I married 5 years ago in the USA. I came back to the UK and applied for a spousal and dependent child visa (for my now 14 year old stepson). We eventually got them granted on... 28/2/12 and they are valid until 28/5/14 Th...

I appreciate the reply but I didn't ask for help with the appeal. I just wanted to know how much money the UK government says a parent and dependent child need to live on. It's probably my fault as I have a bad habit of including too much irrelevant information instead of just sticking to the point....

Financial support needed for wife and stepson.

Hi, I applied for Visas for my wife and son which have been turned down on financial reasons. Basically they didn't think I have enough money to support them. The person who reviewed our applications seems to have completely overlooked the fact that I have been sending £650 per month while they are...

Please don't think I'm trying to put you off altogether, I'm not. I'm trying to show the hurdles you need to overcome, so that you can put together a careful application, more likely to succeed. I apreciate your help and understand from everything you've told me and what I've researched online , th...

His father has never willingly paid child support but the texas equivelant of the CSA have been taking mony from his paycheques on the odd occaisions they can locate him. (Last payment was 8 months ago) But as soon as they do he either looses his job or quits to avoid paying it. Around 18 months ago...

Re: Visa for wifes son.

No it won't. You need to prove "sole responsibility", which is pretty difficult if the other parent is still alive and not on the missing list. They have only seen his father twice in 4 years and we dont know where he is. From SET7.8 : "Who takes the important decisions about the chi...

Visa for wifes son.

Hi, I am trying to get my wife and her son visas to come live with me in the UK, they are from Texas. Texas rarely does sole custody but when she was divorced from her ex husband she had this put in the divorce decree. (The legal document / settlment of the divorce issued by the court in texas). It ...

Chris, Count yourself lucky that your wife was allowed in on a tourist visa. If the immigration officer had twigged that she was married to a British citizen and didn't have the correct visa, she'd have likely been refused entry. Exactly the same thing happened to my wife in 2007. We married in Can...

Does your wife have Sole Responsibility for her child? If the biological father of her child is still alive, what documentation does she have that shows she has Sole Responsibility? She says Texas doesnt do sole custody, it only does majority/minority custody and she has 'majority'. It's written in...

I am a self employed handyman. Gardening and small building jobs basically. Currently I make what would amount to about 5k a year as I've only been home a month. It should rise to 10 to 12 once i build things back up. That's about where I was at before I left to go to the US. The child is from my wi...

US Wife came in on tourist visa, what now?

I married my wife 18 months ago in the US and was in process of applying for adjustment of status over there. Unfortunately we both lost our jobs and we couldnt pay the bills so we came to the UK at short notice as we could stay with my dad and I know enough people here to find some work at least. (...
