2010 Citizenship Applications Approval

Things are definitely improving but not the status updates.

2 people who applied for Citizenship in January 2010 - on the basis of 5 years residence received their approval letters in the beginning of September 2011.

Any one else who applied in 2010 with an approval yet?

EU Fam card application based on my Irish Citizen Child?

My baby girl (1 year old) is an Irish citizen. As her parents, can I apply for EU Fam card?

As I understand, a non EEA family member of a EEA citizen can apply for this. Has anyone tried this with results?

Thanks

Thanks for the replies :) I wonder if others any one has tried this before... As I said it is a very fresh area of the law. The ruling was only last week in the Zambrano case. Brophy solicitors (in Dublin) are taking a case invoking the rights from Zambrano against the deportation of a nigerian fat...

An update: The lady in question, after child delivery, went home to an Asian country for 2 months. After a year for this travel, she got a letter from Social Welfare asking her to return 2 months Maternity Benefit as she was not present in Ireland.

A few more cases were reported in the same lines.

Thanks 9jeirean. That is helpful. Have you found this info in an official website??

A few expecting mothers (on their 35 - 38 weeks) have received letters from Social Welfare asking for a copy of the GNIB card.

Would travel disqualify you from maternity benefit?

I heard accounts that some working families (legally working, paying PRSI etc and claiming maternity benefit during the maternity leave) were asked to payback the maternity benefit because they traveled and stayed outside EU for about 3 months. Is there anyone here who has faced this? Is there any s...

I am not in the situation yet, but I suspect it will come to this at some point. It is good to know that you didn't lose heart and got it done. Will serve as a guideline for anyone who might be interested.

Thanks again.. and all the best to you!

many companies have their employees advertising room and house rentals. This comes from employees leaving, or other employees looking for house sharing. You might want to ask try your HR department of your company and ask specifically for this.

An affidavit is a written declaration which is accompanied by an oath or affirmation indicating that the contents of the affidavit are true.

Any solicitor could help you out with that.

Whatever the case is, the department should seriously look at handling Sham marriages.

As usual it might be a worthwhile exercise to identify, what other countries do in this regard. Instead of blindly copying it, for a change, the dept should try to improvise.

As one one has replied here is my 2 cents.

Stamp 3 for spouses specifically state that, the holder is not allowed to start Business without express special permission from the minister. This pretty much rules out incorporating a company for business.

that's all i can think of.

Hi Sarah, I agree with Ben that - by the EU Directive - you are entitled to work immediately. From the letter, it looks like it will even stand a legal challenge from the Irish government. So YOU ARE ENTITLED TO WORK. However, you have the following hurdle: When employers look at your application, m...
