Thank you D4109125.

I agree with you that I have to err on the side of caution. It's a matter of wait and see now.

I will keep you informed about the outcome.

I searched on the internet and found this: http://www.uklgig.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1635&start=0 Spoke to the Home Office today, they said one Referee could be a professional from any nationality and does not have to reside in the UK. The other referee does not have to be a profess...

The rules do not expressly state that a referee must be a UK resident.

Hopefully the UKBA will accept my referee, if not I will just have to find another one.

I sent me application off last week and one of my referees is a medical professor resident in Germany.

I hope this does not cause any problems with my application. If it does, would UKBA ask me to provide another referee or would they refuse the application and I forfeit the fee?

You have to send the original passport so that they can check entry and exit stamps. They need to check first entry stamp into the UK.

If you did not have an ILR sticker on your passport but an ID card.

Was your permanent residence card returned to you or was it retained?

Don't worry, be patient. Some people had to wait six months for a reply. Only 7 working days passed since UKBA received your application. Normally it takes about 2 weeks to debit your account. If everyone kept phoning for such trivial issues, UKBA staff wont have time to process our applications and...

I am still waiting for a decision.

This should be ok according to the rules, or the day of arrival in the UK is not counted?

British citizen travel on foreign passport

I am sure this must have been asked - and answered - before, but despite searching here I was unable to find an answer. Sorry to ask again.

Can someone who has ILR and has been granted British nationality but not yet applied for a British passport, travel abroad on his foreign passport?

Additional supporting documents with application

I intend to send my application for naturalisation by post myself.

Would it be better if I send copies of council tax bills and other documents to proof continued residence in the UK in last three years? Or should I only send the documents mentioned in Form AN?

Could someone please confirm that the application, in the case of a spouse, could be posted by first class mail, two days prior the third anniversary of first entry into the UK. Let's assume the foreign spouse first entered the UK on the 11 May 2010, she can post the application form by first class/...

She can apply for naturalisation now.

As a spouse of a British citizen, she only needs 3 years residency.

She does not have to wait one year on ILR to qualify.

IMPORTANT - New Form AN published - December 2012

A new application form for British citizenship (Form AN) was published last month December 2012. It is important to inform applicants of this new form because they may lose their fee for using the wrong form. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/nationality/form_an.pdf I am...

The problem would be at the check in desk in Turkey, the airline staff must ensure that he has a valid passport and a visa for the UK. A certificate of naturalisation is not a travel document. So he may be refused boarding. I am not a moderator, wait for a better response or a confirmation of the ab...

I qualify for British naturalisation in 10 months time. I had to pass Life in the UK Test to apply for ILR.

If a new test is introduced, do I have to retake the revised Life in the UK Test again to qualify for citizenship?

I do not need the BRP as a souvenir. I need it until I get my British passport. If it is withdrawn when applying for naturalisation, I cannot travel until I receive my British passport. What happens to BRP on application for naturalisation?

Since ILR is no longer a sticker on a passport but an ID card (BRP), is this withdrawn when someone applies for naturalisation or for a British passport?

Do we keep the BRP on application for naturalisation? is it returned to us?

I don't think you will find an appointment now for that date at Croydon.

I would avoid Croydon. There were IT problems this week on the 21 and 23 May.
