Greenteas, The UKBA's main concern when granting ILR is to determine that the couple have been co-habitating for the last two years whilst on spouse visa, and that the marriage is genuine. They will want to see proof of your finances, but will be more interested in your spouses bank details, as he i...

Visa endorsements and conditions are exactly the same for unmarried partners as they are for married couples. The only difference is in applying: an unmarried couple can only apply for ILE settlement if they can prove they have been cohabitating for 4 years' outside the UK, whereas a couple who hav...

Yes of course there are different endorsements depending on whether you're married or not; That's the problem ! Hence, the solution : change the endorsement from "Spouse/CP" to Unmarried partner endorsement . As Mr Rusty commented , it's even better than a fiance visa. Vinny, A settlement...

If the Embassy have made a mistake, the obvious thing to do is to go back to them and ask them to correct it. Applying to UKBA after arrival in the UK would probably take much longer to sort out. It appears that the Embassy have given your fiance a better visa than he asked for, as he would not hav...

Hello Mr Rusty I think there's some confusion here. Visa endorsements and conditions are exactly the same for civil partners, as they are for spouses. In fact, civil partners probably have more scope in some ways. Although, when it comes to applying for British Citizenship a married partner can appl...

Hi Panicking, I think I saw and replied to a post of yours on the other thread. You need a Cerificate of Approval to marry if you are already in the United Kingdom, and you don't yet have settled status. You can download the form and it is very straightforward. There is no fee for this either. You t...

Hi Panicking,

How long have you been living with your partner? If you were living as a couple for 4 years or more in Turkey, then the ECO would issue your partner with a settlement visa as you would have already proved your relationship status.

Hope that helps.

In the application form there is a slot specially for OISC member number but no slot for solicitors who are regulated by SAR. So I believe choosing a OISC lawyer has certain advantage over non-OISC lawyer?? Anyone agree?? I always worried things will get lost through the post so I would prefer to g...

You get good solictors and you get bad solicitors, but they all charge a fortune for their services. Very true! You need to be careful with immigration advisors too. Some of them have very basic knowledge, all learnt online over a very short period, and as long as they pass a few relatively easy exa...

by the way, Sunrise Solicitors is not OISC registered ??

No solicitor would be registered with the OISC, they don't need to be as they are already legally qualified. The OISC is just for immigration advisors.

John, sorry, but I've just noticed that my post must have had a delay and crossed with yours.

I've simply repeated what you stated - Emeler's husband is entitled to tax credits.

Emeler, please don't worry about your husband claiming tax credits while on a settlement visa, they're entitled to it, depending of course on their income. In reply to what you quoted from another forum, that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Any Turkish national on a settlement visa is entitled to...
