Outside of UK during naturalisation application

Hi, I am looking for some advice... On Monday my partner is going to apply to be naturalised as a British citizen, through our local nationality checking service. We are going to be out of the UK visiting her parents for the whole of December. My question is, should we write this on the additional i...

Referees

Hi, Just a quick question... My partner is about to apply for British Citizenship having previously been here on an unmarried partner visa and held ILR for one year. The form ask for two referees, and I was wondering if I would be allowed to act as one? It says they cannot be a relative, but as we a...

New SET(M) Form

Hi,

I note from the UKBA website that a new SET(M) form was issued on 15th September... Does anyone know when the differences are between that one and the previous one which was issued on the 9th July?

Thanks, Paul.

Re: Extension after 9th july ILR- count for 2years or 5 year

1. My wife had the initial entry clearance granted on 1st Sep 2010 for 2 years along with me. Entered UK on the 23rd Oct 2010. 2. Extension successfully granted till 1st Sep 2015 including myself and dependents. What kind of visa did your wife enter the UK on in October 2010 (Point 1 above)? What k...

Oh, and another tip - You don't need to select a date and / or time... When you get to the page which asks you to select a date and enquiry office, only the fields marked with a red star are compulsory. It's not very clear, but the only boxes on that page you need to complete are the office you want...

Hi,

I just booked a PEO appointment yesterday.

What you need to do is go onto the website at, or very shortly after, midnight (Monday - Friday). Appointments are released six weeks ahead of the appointment date.

By checking at midnight, I got an appointment on my first try.

Good luck.

Paul.

PEO Appointment

Hi, I've just booked an appointment at a Public Enquiry Office for my partner's SET(M) visa application. She is applying as my unmarried partner. We have no children, so when registering, I selected "none" for the number of dependants. On the booking conformation, it says the number of peo...

Applying for SET(M) at a PEO

Hi, My partner will soon have to renew her visa and we want to apply at one of the UKBA's Public Enquiry Offices (PEO). I note that the guidance notes say not to post the SET(M) application form more than 28 days before her current FLR(M) visa expires if applying by post. Do the same rules apply to ...

The transitional arrangements. Looks like everyone who applies before 9 July will be able to apply for ILR under the old rules, after 2 years. Well they certainly kept us waiting for this announcement today (not making it until after 5pm)! However thankfully it seems to be fair, as far as people cu...

Damian Green has been indicating for about 6 months that anyone already here on a spouse visa would still be able to apply for ILR under the old rules - 2 years, no threshold, etc. They do seem to have changed their minds on a lot of things at the last minute, like the level of the threshold, but t...

Worst Case Scenario for ILR

Hi, I was wondering if someone could please tell me what would happen if a partner who was currently living with a British national in the UK on a Unmarried Partner Visa had to temporarily leave the country for some reason towards the end of their FLR(M) stay? It seams that Earned Citizenship will now not be implemented by the new Government: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/newsarticles/2010/nov/15-settlement-reforms I wonder what they will decide on in it's place... They are using strong language and I just hope they won't break up families...

Earned Citizenship??

Hi, My un-married partner has just been granted a two year visa under the FLR(M) visa category. Normally, the next stage would be to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) using the SET(M) visa in two years time. However, while investigating this, I've come across some info about "earned ci...
