I know from when I was doing my ILR application that a liability order is neither a criminal nor civil judgment and you're OK for now. I don't know anything about whose responsibility it is to pay the council tax in your situation, but as non-payment of council tax is a criminal offence you should g...

Oh, silly me. I've only just seen that OctApplication's post is a couple of weeks old. Hopefully it's all been resolved. Any updates since then, OctApplication?

My question is does anyone had the letter sent out again and if so is the date on the original letter and the new letter the same? I'm hoping it is a new letter with a new date as otherwise the approval I've now got is worthless. I'll have to spend another 800 pounds for a fresh application all bec...

Nolia, I did a bit of time working as a border guard in my home country, so I might be able to help explain what was going on in your interview. When I was trying to judge whether someone was telling the truth in a border interview, oftentimes I wasn't paying as much attention to what someone says a...

So I think I'll give them a call next Monday, only thing I want to be sure is if the letter was or wasn't sent yet. Yeah, probably a good idea. It's possible yours has gone astray too. For such an important thing as citizenship, the system of notifications seems a little flimsy. A couple of letters...

PS - I feel I should say that in the end I am very happy it's all been approved, even if that post seemed a little grumpy. But now that I am almost a citizen, I feel it's appropriately British of me to moan about things.

Interesting news from at least one November application. It turns out mine was approved on 23 January, but the invitation letter never reached me. The first I heard was a letter I got from Southwark council wondering why I hadn't attended a ceremony yet. It's annoying to think that my certificate ha...

I doubt that differences in processing times come down to NCS v postal applications. The application method doesn't change the documents the caseworker sees. The advantage with NCS isn't quicker processing, it's about verifying your application is complete and letting you keep your original document...

I'm another November application still waiting. Today is four months since my NCS appointment. I'm trying my best to be patient – there's nothing unusual about my application so I'm sure it will come in due course – but that doesn't stop me getting my hopes up a little every day when I check the post.

1. If the original LITUK test certificate was returned to you (strange - for me at least) For what it's worth, I got my LITUK certificate back from my ILR application too. tier1extension, for my citizenship application I went for the belt-and-braces approach – I ticked the box that said I'd already...

AN application - Previous addresses don't need exact date

I had been searching for an answer in the forums about what to do if you don't remember your exact moving dates when filling in the section on previous addresses. A few people implied that it might be OK just to put down the months, without the day. As far as I could see, though, no one could confir...

Your friend needn't worry – a liability order is not a civil judgment and he won't need to declare it. I had a similar order as well before I had ILR. I got things sorted out with the council, and it doesn't affect ILR applications.

Hi Shiv - you'll be fine. I also had to serve out my notice period at my old job after being granted a work permit for my current company. It doesn't make any difference to the ILR application.

ILR success 3 September, Croydon PEO

I successfully applied for ILR at the Croydon PEO last Friday on a SET(O) form. Like others, I've found a lot of really helpful advice on this forum – thanks very much to everyone here. Background I came to the UK on a working holiday originally in 2003. 5 years ago I was hired on a proper WP by m...
