Re: Can we always renew a Tier 1 (G)?

No, the government has recently flagged changes to close Tier 1(G) extension applications in April 2015.

Re: Tier 1 General Ext only until 2014

I think the closing dates they are suggesting are fair. Very few will be caught out. We entered late (9 months after our visa was one of the last granted, back in nov 2010) and should be able to get ILR. I appreciate their fairness. 2014 would have been a disaster for many.

Re: Call for "Genuine Earning Test" interview at S

Hi all, I have received a same letter from UKBA but I am not going for an interview because as per LAW this Genuine Earning test interview is not applicable for anyone who applied before the changes to the immigration Rules which is effected from 1st October 2013 . I have consult with a Barrister a...

It will probably be too late in May 2014 to get a mortgage if your visa expires in February 2015. The banks care about how much time is left on your Tier 1 visa. Usually they like 2 years, though some will accept 12 months, perhaps for a higher rate or with a larger deposit. For your information, we...

Yeah! i'm with you Dandm, it really spoiled the standard of the Category. And the interview is pretty good thing to keep its standard, but i feel they are too late now. Yep, it's a shame it's come too late to save Tier 1. Really wish they'd been a bit more rigorous when they came up with this schem...

I personally think these interviews are a good idea. There are many who have misused the Tier 1 scheme by falsifying self-employment income. Perhaps if these people had not done so - and if the scheme had been properly policed from the start - than the Tier 1 scheme would not have been closed down. ...

Re: Increase in Immigration application fees consultation.

The consultation starts for possible immigration fee increase in visa applications. This time it looks that UKBA is focusing on ILR applications. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/256443/Fees_and_charging_immigration_and_visas.pdf Where do you get the focus o...

Our inspection took place earlier this year and the Home Office may have changed their rules relating to Tier 1 applications. Therefore, I am referring you to the Home Office’s current posit...

The reality is that the UK is burdening and creating a hostile environment for its most economically beneficial migrants (non-EU Tier 1, 2 and students) because they are the only ones it can legally attack due to EU restrictions. It sucks and I'm pretty tired of it. I paid almost 70,000 pounds in ta...

I read on a blog site for a mortgage broker that specialised in securing mortgages for Tier 1 holders that this program is NOT available to immigrants. Only logical when you think about it - this is a Tory vote buying policy, if they allowed it to get used by the public enemies that are the Tier 1 h...

With all due respect to your views,we are not saying that tier 1 extension needs to be opened for the next 10 years.when all other applicants had the chance to bridge their ILR gaps by going for 2nd extension, then why should be we left out? We too have shown the same points and fees for the process...

Very worrying. We entered nine months after the start of our visa (August 2011). We did our first extension last year and it runs until Nov 2015. Need a second extension to cover the gap to ILR. I was always worried they would do this. You should get 3 years on your extension, so you should be fine...

Well there is precedent for it. People who put down roots and have them taken away arbitrarily tend to have success with the courts. The point is this could be avoided by them implementing clear transitional procedures so as to not disadvantage some Tier 1 holders over others purely through accident...

He advises HSMP style litigation if this does turn out to be the case. Unless you have a massive military to back you up, I don't know how you can force a nation to have foreign people stay in it against its will. The United Kingdom is a sovereign nation. Outside of losing that sovereignty, can the...

Whatever, this appears to be a concerning development. It should no longer be confusing topic, as params0073 ...

Unfortunately it is part of a wider issue with the Conservatives trying to wrest the anti-immigration mantle from UKIP. Immigrants have become a major target with the government fueling the flames. Articles like this are very worrying: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2356520/DAILY-MAIL-COM...

Yes, it sounds like it will be applied when next we apply for an extension. Or perhaps if one doesn't yet have an NHS number, at that point.

The ironic thing about this policy is it is likely to end up forcing more immigrants into the NHS system. There will be many families, like my own, that currently have private health insurance but will use the NHS for the gaps in coverage (haven't had to do this yet, but it's nice to know we can). N...
