Maintenance Fund Tier 1 General Extension

Hi This is my first post and have query about the maintenance fund. I understand that one need 800 pounds over the 3 months. I will be applying for extension on March 15th 2011 with my wife and child as dependent. does this mean i need to maintain 2400 pounds from december 2010 onwords? thanks sunny
