Ok - 1300 decrease in Tier 2 and a freeze at 5400 Tier 1 visas - it is still quite far from "moving migration from hundreds of thousands to tens of thousands" - how exactly they are going to do it without affecting ICT (which is now one of the main ways to bring non-EU workforce into the U...

My wife was in exactly the same situation - I called to immigration control in Heathrow and asked the same question - they confirmed that my wife still could travel and return back to the UK using her foreign passport.

I am completely confused - does that mean that you can get conviction without even being called to court??? I thought you at least needed a judge to be convicted?

Can anybody explain me - what the difference ID cards make comparing to the biometrical visa/leave to remain? Most (or probably all) employers do not have any special equipment to read data stored on the chip on the card - so for them it is nice printed piece of plastic against nice printed sticker ...

HMRC is no longer accepting temporary NI numbers.
So how exactly a new legal foreign employee can start working? In my case it took about 3 months to get NI number and my employer made an appointment for me before I even actually arrived to the country.

You can spend years working and paying taxes on a temporary NI number - it is one of those holes, which the Government has completely forgotten to close.

It was no fault of your own and the HO will have to accomodate you as far as possible but I wonder if there is any wording of the Immigration Act that requires "admission to the UK for the purpose of wp employment". I believe that British visa is "enabled" automatically when you...

Re: Irish Republic thru Belfast

So what happened to the Common Travel Area agreement? Contrary to common knowledge, the CTA is only applicable to Irish and UK/Manx/Channel Island citizens. Everyone else (including EU/EEA , but technically a formality) must be able to meet criteria for entry. That's what I always thought - the CTA...
