JD is equivalent to a masters? Evidence required?

What kind of evidence do I need to submit along with my JD diploma to prove that it is equivalent to a masters? Do I need to pay all that money to NARIC for a letter, or is the home office already aware that it is equivalent? Also, do you have any insight into whether ABA membership can be used to g...

I don't really know that they won't CONSIDER it. It was just the quick response that the person on the phone at the BIA gave me. I assume if you have good reason, they will consider it, but there is some chance you will be turned down and you will lose your money. When I explained to them that it is...

U.S. Law Degree (juris doctor) - is it equivalent to a Maste

Anyone know if a U.S. law degree (i.e. a juris doctor) is equivalent to a master's degree? It is a three-year post graduate program in the United States required to practice law. It is not, however, necessarily in the "same subject" as the bachelor's degree. My bachelor's degree is in Psyc...

You can't renew your HSMP early

I just called the BIA and they confirmed that if you send in an application to renew your HSMP (i.e. convert it to a Tier 1) before it is due to expire, they will simply keep your money and turn down your application. They confirmed that you should NOT try to renew your HSMP before the 28 day period...

Can you transfer to Tier 1 before HSMP expires?

I have an HSMP visa that expires in February 2009 (I got my permission before the changes in Nov. 2006). Given all the new rules, I would really like to switch to the Tier 1 visa NOW, rather than waiting until my HSMP expires in February 2009. In other words, this would be 11 months early. I know th...

Working in the UK, but getting paid in the US - leaving UK

Hi, there. I don't know that anyone will be able to help, but I have a pretty complicated situation. I work at a large international bank, and requested a transfer from NY to London. They were hesitant about the costs, so I got a visa and entry clearance under the HSMP, and with that, convinced my e...

How long will they hold my passport?

Hi. I hope this isn't a repeated question, but I have just received my HSMP approval (issued Nov. 20). I live in New York City. I would like to get my entry clearance overwith, but I am wondering how long will they hold on to my passport? I travel a lot for work and can't be without it for very long...

November application approved

Hi, I posted yesterday about my application from the US (sent Oct. 31, delivered Nov. 2, credit card charged Nov. 3). Decision made and documents returned Nov. 20. I called again today and begged to be told over the phone what the decision was. I was approved. Of course I'm very excited about that, ...
