No, wouldn't apply to NHS services as they are free at the point of delivery.

No retrospective changes - new rules only apply for applications made after 9 July. Phew :)

A Lib Dem MP says "the government must be firm but fair and so I welcome the threshold that was eventually agreed" - I suspect that is code for saying that the Lib Dems refused to accept a higher limit than £18,600.

A statement has been published here. However, all it says is that an oral statement will be made later.

No link, because it's paywalled and I bought a paper copy. There isn't really anything else new in the article.

What does the Telegraph mean when it says people 'will no longer be able to extend a visa simply by being in a relationship'? What category would that apply to?

Hi CR001, Thanks for your reply. I contacted the BRPError email address regarding this and they told me that the "date of issue" is simply the date of production - the records still show that my partner's leave started on 6th March 2012 so the date of issue won't affect the date she become...

Hi The BRP has now been received. The date of expiry is 06.03.14 (two years from the date of approval, as it should be) but the "date and place of issue" is 21.03.12 (funnily enough the same day that I emailed to ask where the BRP was!). Am I right in assuming that the "date and place...

A new story from the Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/immigration/9165090/Ministers-plan-major-immigration-crackdown.html Key points - The Conservatives want an income threshold of £25,700 (or higher if children are involved); - They want the new rules to be introduced in June; - It...

Received a prompt reply this morning saying that owing to high demand for BRPs, there has been a delay in production and we can expect it in the next 3-7 working days. Annoying, but at least it hasn't been lost somewhere.

FLR (M) PEO appointment 6th March - Missing BRP

Hi My partner applied successfully for an unmarried partner visa on 6th March. Her BRP has not yet arrived and the 10 working days elapsed yesterday. I called DX this morning who advised no deliveries were scheduled for our address. I have emailed the BRPDelivery email address specified on the lette...

Hi anash, I can help with some of this as my (Australian) girlfriend had her unmarried partner visa approved at Croydon PEO yesterday. In terms of evidence, you need enough to show you have been living together for the full two year period - it doesn't have to be a large volume, just enough to persu...

A curious speech. I assumed from the weekend coverage that we would have a policy announcement in the Commons this week, not the restatement of existing principles to a think tank. It wouldn't take this long to work out the policy details, so the delay must be either because of legal questions or di...

Thanks - that is helpful, but also a little confusing because the advisory documents at UKBA make no reference to needing such supplementary information (beyond the 6 items of correspondence from at least 3 sources, which we have). I assumed that the evidence of, for example, joint bank account woul...

Unmarried partner visa

Hello, I am a UK national whose partner is currently here on Tier 2 and will qualify for an unmarried partner visa from March 2012. We are currently in the process of getting things together for the application. I think our application is fairly straightforward but there are a few things I could do ...

I know secondary legislation can become law immediately, but I would have thought UKBA would need at least some lead time to ensure that changes can be implemented on the given date. In the case of the family visa changes, the original consultation document states specifically that they plan to intr...

FLR (M) application process

Hello I am a British citizen who has been living in the UK with my non-EU partner since March 2010 (she is presently on tier 2). As of March 2012 we will therefore be eligible to apply for an unmarried partner visa. We are going to apply as soon as we are eligible in March 2012 as we are aware that ...

I would especially encourage people to write if they have a Lib Dem MP as they have been rather quiet on the family migration issue but would, I suspect, be susceptible to pressure as the proposals are so obviously illiberal. The plans would need a vote in both Houses of Parliament so if enough nois...
