''although you as an immigrant live here and work here, speak the language, you will always be seen as an outsider even though you may have citizenship'' This is correct gentlemen. Let me give you a very short list of what has been happening recently: The government introduced first ever cap on ski...

lack of coherence

not really. The problem and the extra unnecessary burden becames obvious again when someone has Bachelor from overseas and come to UK to complete his/her PhD or Masters. (thousands of students in the UK are in this scenario atm) and they still have to take A1 language test to comply with HO non-sens...

lack of coherence

Further the scheme itself lacks intellectual coherence given that those with academic qualifications equivalent to the standard of UKs Bachelor degree are exempt from the English language requirement whilst those with PhD and Masters qualifications are not.

Master's Degree from UK University

Got clarification yesterday:

In the view of UKBA - Master's Degrees whether obtained in the UK or abroad are not acceptable proof that applicant has basic level of English, hence English language test is required.

Master's Degree from UK University

''Master’s degrees and PhDs will not be accepted as evidence. This is because UK NARIC is only able to assess whether a Bachelor’s degree (and not a Master’s degree or PhD) was taught in English.'' The above has been taken out from Page 6 of the Guidance Notes FLR(M) but it does seem to apply...

UK English Language Requirement for Unmarried Partners

I have Master's Degree from UK university. (Bachelor's from overseas) Will I still need to take English Language Test for the purposes of my extension of stay application? The UKBA guidance on this says: If you hold an academic qualification equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in the UK which was ta...

ad-hoc printout bank statement

I guess I don't have appeal right because my leave expired. The case worker only said about the print out that it was not in the appropriate format. Then cited paragraph: BANK STATEMENTS MUST BE ORIGINAL STATEMENTS OR INTERNET AND AD-HOC PRINTOUTS WHICH MUST CONTAIN ALL THE PERSONAL INFORMATION (BAN...

ad-hoc printout bank statement

Hi. I have recently been refused tier-4 student visa extension due to NOT ENOUGH FUNDS. I have submitted 2 bank accounts: -one paper bank statement, which at one point dropped below 800.00 hence could not get awarded 10 points. -the second bank account I had to request from my bank to be specially p...

A8 access to benefits - WRS coming to an end

Hi. Until now Accession State AKA ''Eastern Bloc'' nationals could only claim benefits after registering with WRS and spending one year in the UK.

As the WRS is coming to an end in April 2011 - does it mean that all new arrivals now will be able to apply for benefits from the day ONE?

Swiss border controls on roads

Are there still Swiss passport checks when entering from e.g. France or Austria? As non-EEA UK Family permit holders can now travel visa free to, lets say France, what stops them to enter Switzerland visa free via France, Germany or Austria?

WRS

HO would also arge that because he did not register his employment would not have been legal and he also would not have been eligible for public funds. Yes, he was employed AKA working for an employer. No, I am not suggesting that he lie. All in all, HO would know when he entered UK so it would make...

WRS obsolete

Hi Guru Although the WRS will become obsolete for A8 nationals I do believe HO would argue that as the A8 national did not register with WRS he was not working in the UK legally hence can not sponsor foreign national. The only thing the A8 national could claim is that he just arrived in the UK, lets...

Accession State National did not regsiter with WRS

Hi. A guy I know, a Polish National, has been in the UK for 5 years but never registered with WRS. Now he is planning to marry a foreign national in the UK, who is out of legal status. A: I understand that once the EEA national register with WRS his/her non-EEA family member can apply for FAMILY MEM...

Work Permit - dependants

Hi. I am here on work permit (believe tier 2 now), and my husband and 2 children are in the UK as my dependants. I changed the employer and the work permit not so long ago but do my husband and children also need to apply for new dependant visas to UKBA?

Thank you very much.

Student Visitor switch to Tier-4 possible?

Can a Turkish national, currently on Student Visitor visa in the UK, change to Tier-4 visa without leaving UK, having to re-apply from overseas? As a worst case scenario, can he extend his stay as a student visitor from current 6 months to 11 months? (was studying at language school but want to chan...
