All above mentioned is correct and very well relevant to your case. Moreover, If during the processing time of your application you need your passport back then you can simply contact them to get back passport and it won't affect your application.

1st of all be clarified that there is no earning threshold for an employee under EEA law to excercise its treaty rights as worker as along as the employment is a genuine and effective activity for remuneration. Each time if you call ukba you will get different answer.
