Do we have to send our existing passport (indian) along with the british passport application? We will send our appication through NCS.

I am working on Tier2 visa and will eligible for ILR in June this year. But that time my wife will be in India as we are expecting our first baby in June. I was wondering can I apply for her ILR as well when she is in India? Or she needs to be in UK during ILR application?
