Re: Passport refused - uncancelled passport in maiden name

Thank you everyone for contributing your experience and advice in this thread, especially noajthan. My wife received her approval this morning! We changed her Canadian passport into married name, then immediately applied for naturalisation (did not update the BRP first). Went through fine in two and...

Re: Biometrics Letter - in maiden name, not married name

My wife just got her approval in her married name. We'd updated her Canadian passport to married name (but not BRP) immediately before submitting AN1 form. Biometrics request came addressed to maiden name, but the receipt for the payment was in the same envelope addressed to married name. Submitted ...

Sorry, I meant 5 years not 12 months. Silly brain.

Re: Absence and English language requirement question

Make sure your wife was physically present in the UK exactly 12 months (to the day) before on the day you apply (if going through NCS) or when the Home Office receive your posted application.

Re: Passport refused - uncancelled passport in maiden name

My understanding is you are on right track with passport upgrade as that is HMPO's primary concern. Name difference with BRP is readily explainable with marriage certificate. So, if you don't exceed the 3 month limit, no need to update BRP. Once naturalissd it will be null & void anyway. Good l...

Re: Passport refused - uncancelled passport in maiden name

Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences and advice. My wife is about to apply for naturalisation. Her Canadian passport was in her maiden name but she wants her British passport in her married name (which is the name she uses everywhere except on her BRP). So she's applied for a replacement Can...

We got our dates wrong, and my wife is overstaying her previous FLR(M) from today. Vinny advised a new application for FLR(M), under the less than 28 days rule, will be considered under the new rules, including the £18600 income test. I'm self-employed, my gross income last year (2013-13) was £16200...

Unfortunately, an overstayer would also be subject to the new rules . Thanks Vinny. Going through that I see the income requirement is £18k6. The second link you gave reads to me like Tax Credits I am eligible for are counted as part of my income for this test (section 12A), but the UKBA guidance s...

Just found on the UKBA website that an overstay less than 28 days will be ignored for FLR(M).

Can't see if there's the same rule for ILR(M) - anyone know?

Thanks

FLR(M) overstay

We've screwed up. We thought my wife's FLR(M) ran out at the end of May, it actually expired today. We were just getting info (for either SET(M) or another FLR) tonight when we noticed. She hasn't been able to pass the Life in the UK Test yet (she has chronic health trouble - most seriously, daily d...

Disabled wife - KOL excemption

Hi, My wife, a Canadian, is coming towards the end of her Spouse visa (ends beginning of June). She's disabled by severe, daily (several per day) migraines which are resisting treatment. The severity and frequency of the migraines, and the drugs we're trying to treatment make her groggy and her reca...
