Apologies, just noticed a typo in my original post. My spouses two year marriage visa was granted in Jan 2012, not Jan 2011. I assume she's still under the old rules and can apply for citizen ship in January 2015 then.

Thanks for your help

Marriage Visa query

My wife is currently in the UK on a 2 year marriage visa that she was granted in January 2011. Back then we were told that after two years she can apply for indefinite leave to remain. I have seen since that the rules have changed for marriage visas and that after the initial two year visa another t...

VFS concerns

Hi, my partner is applying for a fiancee visa to join me in the UK and we had some concerns about the VFS and their level of confidentiality/reliability. The situation is, my partner is from Bahrain which is an Islamic country and she has ties to the Sunni royal family there. She wants to leave the ...

The language course at UCL is two hours one evening per week for 10 weeks. She has done atleast 2 of these in the past 18 months. It's not for a degree and the summer course is seperate from her degree but is an option that SOAS gives to their students if they want to remain in the UK and study over...

Sorry perhaps my original post was not clear. I am very new to this visa stuff and it's confusing the absolute heck out of me. She does not want to return with a different sponsor. The language course at UCL is just a part time course that she applied for through SOAS (who sponsor her current visa)....

Apologies after talking with my fiancee it appears I have the terminology wrong. The visa has not been cancelled, however her university have temporarily "deactivated" their sponsorship of her visa as she is on Leave Of Absence. I am not sure what this actually entails though.

Deactivated student visa

My fiancee has a 3 year student visa to study at SOAS but in February left the UK due to a family emergency. As she missed so much school work she arranged with SOAS to restart her course in January, basically to pick up where she left off. SOAS informed the border agency to deactivate her student v...

Applying for a visitor visa as a student

My partner has previously been in the UK for 2 and a half years on a student visa. However several months ago due to a family emergency she had to leave the UK and go back to her own country and took a leave of absence from her studies. Her university have contacted her and told her that she will no...
