Minty, the email that the UKBA sent you differs from the approved test centres link where they state 4.0 is needed. I guess even 3.0 would be sufficient then as this would be level A1 at worst?

My wife will be pleased to know that less than 4.0 may be allowed, I thought they would be strict on this 4.0 score. She is taking her test soon. The IELTS exam is quite difficult and expensive to keep retaking. Although I have confidence she will pass 4.0!

A score of 4.0 is needed for the IELTS exam, which achieves level B1. These tests are normally held at the British Council I believe. I am a British citizen living in Venezuela for 4 years with my wife, (3 years of which as a married couple). We plan to move to the UK this year and are currently getting the documents prepared. Would this entitle my wife to apple for ILE, or is the 4 year rule only as a married couple so she should...
