It is funny request really, your Visa is Entry Clearance Visa, if you don't enter the country I suppose it is valid for a certain time and then it becomes invalid I suppose... I never heard of cancelling entry clearance before.... Very true indeed. Enrollment at any UK university is already over an...

If a student fail to enrol to the course of study, the institution is required to report the student to UKBA. The UKBA will then start process of curtailing the leave of student in due course. I am very much aware of that but I fail to see how this will affect the Greek visa in any sort of way. Onc...

How to cancel/invalidate my UK visa....

My brother got his UK student visa last month however his plans changed and he will be studying in Greece instead. The Greek consulate in our country told him to get his UK visa invalidated first otherwise he wouldn't be able to apply for a Greek student visa. ( I would assume once you get another u...

Sick leave on Tier 2

I have just had our HR assistant handing me over a form to fill in with any absences from work I may have made over the past 2 years and any annual leave I have taken. The latter has been as per our entitlement. As for sick leave I have had altogether 6 days in over 2 years time that I have been her...

My understanding is these are routine procedures and you can't tell the outcome of the application until you actually receive an official reply from them.

Whether an employer can terminate your sponsorship / employment or not (for any reason, including those referred to in posts above) is not an immigration matter but a labour issue and dependent on the employment terms and conditions. Sponsorship does not equal employment, I meant standing as a spon...

They can sack you or make you redundant subject only to your employment contract and UK employment law and without reference to your CoS. I know how they can sack you or make you redundant but let's say someone comes along who doesn't like you so instead of unlawful discrimination they decide they ...

Can a sponsor withdraw / cancel the CoS for any reason?

I know this can be cancelled if you choose to work for another sponsor or the same one in a different position and so on, but while you're still happily working for your sponsor AND YOUR COS WAS PROPERLY ISSUED in the first place , could the sponsor withdraw this without stating any reason even afte...

Thanks for the reply I have read the appllication form and the policy guidance and from my own understanding it seems you only need to submit payslips if u're applying under the Tier 2 ICT extension and not the Tier 2 General. I'm just trying to get confirmation if this is correct as I know any mis...

If you are already in the UK under Tier 2 (General), you can apply to extend your permission to stay in this category. If we approve your application, we will extend your permission to stay by another 2 years, or the time given on your certificate of sponsorship plus 14 days, whichever is shorter. D...

That is entirely up to the sponsor .. what they want to specify as the period of engagement / sponsorship when requesting the CoS. There is no requirement (legal or otherwise), that I know of, for the sponsor to issue a CoS that mirrors the period of contract. And also, whether a CoS is issued with...

That wasn't quite my question...My work contract is 5 years, will the CoS be the same please? Or can it only be 3 years at a time?

maximum duration of CoS

Hi, I have been working in the same position initially using a post study work permit for a year and the next year by gaining a Tier 2. After 2 years, they renewed my contract for a further 5 years. Could you let me know if the new CoS application will cover an unbroken 5 year period? What is the ma...

Tier 2 visa longer than work contract?

I applied for Tier 2 employer sponsored last year when I still had a couple of months left on my post study work permit, therefore they issued me with a visa 3 months longer than my current work contract. The job will renew the contract for 3 more months (coincidence) so can I stay on the current vi...

Appeal processing times

An applicant's visa app was refused because one of the documents was not submitted in original. They were told it was something minor and provided they come back to appeal the decision and provide this document that was previously a photocopy, they'd get the desired outcome in their favour. They did...
