I think the decision of going for engagement or marriage should not be related to the immigration status or plans, the decision you and your other half take will have consequences on the immigration status but getting married/engaged to be able to apply for leave to remain might raise suspicions and...

I attended at PEO sheffield on May 27th, they needed further enquiries (see my posts elsewhere) and I am still waiting... unfortunately when it comes to UKBA/PEO centers customer service is worse than anywhere else... to say the least
