Re: Indefinate Leave to Remain

3.5 months gap is not a big issue as long as its just one-off. They may object if you had multiple long breaks by seeing your FLR term periods in your passport. Since the case worker is trained to assess people step by step, sometimes the question may not even arise if you have all documents. So mak...

Re: Leaving the UK!

You dont know where is your passport now ? From what you have described, it is very unlikely that it has been confiscated for the purpose of overstaying, if so, you would have got a notice from Home Office. You can contact HO to clarify the matter. If you have lost your passport, contact your embass...

Re: Indefinate Leave to Remain

Girlie Girl, The Interview is not a question answer or ILR eligibility evaluation session. Basically, you are expected to take N set of documents and will be asked one by one at the counter. If you don’t have one set of document, you will be asked the reason why you don’t have it and will be off...

The 'applicant' of Work permit as far as the WP office is concerned is actually the Employer, not the employee. However, they will record the employee details provided in the application by the Employer. If the approval is successful, it means permission granted to the employer to employ you to work...

Hi Ravi Its a combination of your smartness + luck or destiny - whatever you call it! With your expertise/skills, there is very good chance for a local guy of same calibre in UK (without immigration/hsmp hassles) to get a job offer within weeks, if not days. What you said is right, where there is a ...

I think this need to addressed based on personal circumstances (not just OPs) described rather than using facts shown on the guidelines. If Mr ABC is away for two years, he may lose his ILR status when he tries to re-enter UK, but there is no rule written that ILR is invalid on the 731st day whilst ...

I think it all boils down to using commonsensical judgements, which I think was quite rightly actioned at the airport. Why does UK care if I someone shows his new US passport as long as his ILR is valid. Being and Indian prior to this doesn’t reflect a decision to grant entry …or does it matter?...

The fee (ILR) could be written off as a legitimate business expense - perfectly legal as it covers the cost for an entity (employee) to remain legal which entitles him to vitally take part in every day business affairs. No problem at all as far as I see it. John, do not confuse this with HMRC' provi...

In theory, the general rules could be valid but not "must be valid" on each case. Thats why they use the term "guidance" ,and do note, a policy set need not always become as a rule, if you know what I mean ( or ref to D Cameron or G Brown speeches Vs Actions when either of them a...

Re: PR in UK, now US citizen -how to maintain PR

insead, I think you can transfer your ILR visa(on the cancelled Indian passport) to your US passport by taking a day appointment at Croydon (if you are the SE ). Very important, do make sure you take enough documents with you to prove your recent, current and convincing state of all affairs (e.g rel...

I dont see this as a critical situation at all.
Worpermit may end on April 25, but if you are eligible, then there is nothing stoping you from getting an ILR on April 19th itself.
Keep it cool & Goodluck !.

Re: PR in UK, now US citizen -how to maintain PR

Situation described below is not generalizable as it is unique to each person granted with an ILR. In OP's case, if he still has his immediate family relations/inheritance or other means of financial tie-ups within the UK, then might be good enough to maintain ILR, as long as Immigration officials a...

In the US, you would wait at least 12 months for your Green Card ( ILR equivalent ) where as in the UK, its a matter of 2 or 3 hours provided you have all the supporting docs. For Naturalisation, again it was a matter of few weeks... Isn't that efficient? It appears like there is a sense of urgency ...
