Appointments are available only 42 days in advance, thats how their system works and you can't change it. So tonight at 0000 appointments for Friday 6 weeks ahead i.e. 23rd of november will be available.

An appointment on 14 jan 2013 will be first available on 3rd of December 2012.

you do need to read the book, chapter 2-6 because I have generally seen inconsistencies in the preparatory material. I went through the book and used the website mentioned by arifaahmed to practice about 20 tests and found it sufficient to pass the test.
