IMHO, if there is NO evidence in your passport(s) of trips abroad, and NO record of those absences on the SAR file, and you have NO hard physical evidence of trips abroad other than somewhat vague memories... then there is no point in making up rough dates. You might as well not bother to declare it.

I had some issues on this topic with my employer, as their HR policy was to refuse putting generic titles in reference letters, like "To whom it may concern" or "Dir Sir or Madam", etc - and they only allowed specific names. After a lot of complaining from me, so on and so forth,...

I can't remember exactly, but my SAR took nearly 9-10 weeks. I requested it in mid April and it came sometime in mid June, and then I posted my ILR application in mid July (and I'm still waiting :( But judging by other posters on this forum, there has been a back-log over the summer, where many UKBA...

Give or take 7 weeks isn't a big deal in my opinion. If you are worried that a caseworker may make an issue out of it, just tell your HR to mention specific a contact and phone number that UKBA can call to verify the information in the letter, if they need to.

Problem 2 is worse than Problem 1. Problem 1 - You can just delay your ILR application, until your past 10 years absences go back under the 18 month limit. Being over by 30 days isn't really very much. Problem 2 - Sounds like it needs a good explanatory cover letter. If your status was entirely lega...

I was in a similar situation (although no spouse nor dependents). I already qualify for ILR on the 10 Years Rule but as I've also been on a Work Permit for a while, and I would also be eligible for ILR on the 5 Years Rule, if I were to wait and apply in December 2012. My employer's immigration consu...

I sent my application recently, I was also a year late (due for ILR in 2010), but on the form I put down my original entry date in 2000 rather than 2001. I had made a Subject Access Request before applying, and the Home Office actually had a record of my Landing Card that I filled in when I first ar...
