Hi there, the 3 months grace period is from the date of your naturalisation n not the passport. Secondly I do not think it would be advisable to surrender your passport or apply for OCI in India. Yes you can within the grace period of three months but if yu travel after that there is a fine you will have to pay.

Do not worry at all. You will get it soon. There are some people even waiting since Oct.
It all depends on the casr worker get and your circumstances. So, my advice
Stay calm and relaxed and try not to think about it which I know easier said than done.

As far as I know, you have to apply for visa in your country of origin if you are visiting on a tourist visa.
So best check with Portugal embassy. I have heard that they are not very efficient at the Portuguese embassy but you can try.
