ILR Set (M) and CCJ (previously unknown!)

Hello everyone, We are applying for my partner's ILR soon after completing 2 qualifying years as unmarried partners (old system) on the Set (M) form. We are keen to apply in person for a speedy decision but we have a few concerns. We have recently discovered that he has a CCJ which was served last y...

It's not snowing London way don't worry. Snow is up north. It is quite miserable down south though. I'm still waiting to organise flights for my partner to get back to the UK. Hoping to get a flight for next week. Am I one of the few women trying to get their man back in the UK? Sounds like it's the...

2.5 months???? dis is giving me a heart attack now :( :( Lucy_2011 Is there any way you can call them to chase it up? I swear I read in a forum somewhere someone did that for their call letter and received the letter they were waiting for by e-mail after the call, then the actual letter in ...

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the late update! A lot has been happening since I last posted in this forum! I have good news! Our visa rejection has been overturned! The ECO missed the deadline to reply and for ages we hadn't received anything explaining what was happening next. We were advised we'd probabl...

Wow thanks for the reply! That's really re-assuring. So I guess I should start preparing for the hearing! Any advice on the hearing process? I've no idea what happens/how formal it is/if friends and family can speak in support etc. I presume this info will be supplied with the hearing date letter. ...

Hi everyone, Just a little update. The deadline for the ECO to respond to our visa appeal was today. Yet we still haven't heard anything and we appealed back in October. Is this normal? Does anyone have experience of this? I'm told that if the ECO misses the deadline we'll be issued with a hearing d...

Yes indeed. We thought the evidence we originally provided was more than enough odd that, buy apparently not. We needed more than they suggested one would.

Give them EVERYTHING you can possibly give them. We gave all the basics as expected and advised showing 3 years worth but it wasn't enough. Just to be on the safe side, don't give too little. I understand now after we were rejected that they are very strict on unmarried partners. You don't just have...

Congrats to both of you! :)

We are still waiting in appeal I'm afraid so no news from me.

It would be good to know if anyone else that views this forum is currently waiting for their visa or appeal or what the general status is out there. Has anyone else applied in Chennai?

I think it could be either. We were in a similar situation. My partner had been in the UK for 6 years then returned to India in August to apply for the unmarried partner visa. Our status said the same thing at the end September. We were rejected for no good reason. Currently in appeal and still wait...

None from me. I'm in the process of investigating solicitors in case it reaches hearing stage (current solicitor lacks abilty to reply on time, as agreed, or at all sometimes and it's extremely annoying - beware cheap and affordable but absolutely useless solicitors!)

I am still awaiting any news from our appeal. We appealed in mid October and apart from the acknowledgement, we have received nothing. We feel so drained of hope. It's so unfair how cruel these procedures can be. If they actually followed their own rules we wouldn't have been refused at all! Good Lu...

To get the decision overturned in light of additional evidence, you're looking at a wait of 6-7 months, and if it hasn't been overturned you go to a court hearing.

We appealed in October and are STILL waiting.....

That sounds good! You're covering all your bases there. Hope you don't experience any problems. I wish they provided more official guidance on this sort of thing so people don't have to waste time and money sending insuffient evidence as they don't make clear what they need. Good Luck to you! Sounds...

as long as the certificate was obtained before the date of your initial application. If you did the listening one afterwards or it's randomly dated afterwards, apply all over again or you'll only get refused at the appeal as it will count as 'new evidence produced after the inital application' and t...

Yes I think you would need to get explicit permission from the landlord that they know you will be living there with your partner and any arrangements about paying a share of rent is up to you and your parents. Also, given the wait most people seem to be experiencing on this forum, you might have to...

Just a word of warning, I suspect that even though you only pay 20% of the rent of the house, if you have a joint tenancy, chances are that on the tenancy, because it's a joint tenancy, the liability technically falls 50/50 according to your landlord. They don't care how the split is shared between ...

Perhaps a letter from your parents saying they pay the rent and you give them a contribution of 20% per month towards it and have been doing so for however long, perhaps that would suffice? Otherwise it's probably best answered by an immigration solicitor or UKBA themselves - if they answer correspo...

Looks like appeal fees are now £80 or £140 depending on paper or oral appeal for appeals against decisions made from 19th December onwards. Details on Ministry of Justice website.

As far as I know there is nothing we can do to speed up the process. If you find a way let us all know! It's the holy grail of appealing ridiculous visa refusal decisions... At least with the initial application you can track it online. Shame there's no such thing for appeal and that they have so lo...
