Re: Right to Abode for Baby born in India for British citize

Can you apply for the child's passport from within the UK whilst the newborn is in India? Has anyone tried it? Reason I ask is one of the reputed solicitors I met suggested this route to me. I have just come back from India with all the documents he had asked for. Wanted to know if anyone has taken ...

Re: UK Passport for Child Born and Living Abroad

Like secret Simon mentioned, I believe you need to have 10posts I believe.

I have exactly the same concerns as you have. Like secret.simon mentioned, RoA is a good backup to have. Worst case scenario would be the passport application is refused and we apply for RoA from India.

Re: UK Passport for Child Born and Living Abroad

I would love to help but unfortunately, all my research has been very murky. I will PM you the solicitor's name but I am not going through them. I dont understand why should I pay someone to do something that is (as per the solicitor) straight forward! If you look at the passport application in the ...

Child born abroad: Passport Application from within UK?

Hello people I am a naturalized citizenship and am planning to have my child delivered in India. My child will be a british citizen through descent route. My question is, once the child is born, can I apply for its passport from within the UK while the child is in India? I could get all the required...

Re: Pregnant wife- delivery abroad or in UK

As mentioned, I did see a solicitor regarding the options and he insisted that it took him around 4 weeks to get the passport for a child in the same situation.

Can you let me know what do you mean by lengthy?

Re: Pregnant wife- delivery abroad or in UK

Cheers for the reply.

Do you know of anyone (parent) applying for passport from within the UK for the child in spite of child being born and staying abroad at the time of application?

Re: Pregnant wife- delivery abroad or in UK

Thanks for the reply. I could list of at least 5 tip solicitors rated as level 3 by home office who weren't able to shed any light on the RoA. One of them charges 150 per 30mins. I guess because they don't make a lot of money on this, they don't bother. I do not wish for the child to have an Indian ...

Re: Pregnant wife- delivery abroad or in UK

Hi Guys I am approaching the deadline to make this decision now. I went to see a reputed solicitor regarding the option of RoA. Like most of the solicitors I have spoken to, he doesnt have a lot of knowledge about it. But, to my surprise, he recommended that I apply for the British passport for the ...

Re: UK Passport for Child Born and Living Abroad

Hi Feb4 any update on your application? I am in a similar situation. I am planning to get the RoA rather than the passport for my child who will be (touch wood) born abroad. I went to see a solicitor today regarding the same, and its no surprise that not many UK based solicitors dont have a lot of i...

Any child you have after your naturalisation is automatically British.

I meant the passport. Sorry.

Good Morning all Its amazing how this is such an important topic and yet there it lack of clarity over it. I am in a similar situation, the only difference is the child is not born yet. Re: Pregnant wife- delivery abroad or in UK

I really appreciate your help on this. The links were very useful and if there is one thing I have learnt, it's that it's pretty long and painstaking journey to attain the British passport directly. The option of right to aboard is interesting. It looks less time consuming, though I don't know much ...

Re: Pregnant wife- delivery abroad or in UK

Thanks secret.Simon for your advise. As stated before, I am currently in India and we have more or less decided to have the child in India. I am a little confused about the right to abode option. Would that be a possibility if I apply for Indian passport rather than British? Also, the website says i...

Re: Pregnant wife- delivery abroad or in UK

Ok, there was a mistake on my part. I have double checked and found out that the Visa for my wife expires only in Sep 2016. So she will be able to come back and could apply from within the country. This raises a new question:: Will it be a problem for extension if my wife stays out of country for lo...

Re: Pregnant wife- delivery abroad or in UK

Thanks for a quick reply Casa. So you are saying we basically dont have the option of having the child outside the country  Does seem strange that one cant apply for an extension from outside the country. Surely people have encountered situations where they found themselves outside the country ...

Multiple entry on Indian Tourist visa?

Hi all I have just surrendered my indian passport today and I intend to apply for the OCI once I receive the surrender certificate. However, I have already booked my tickets for 2nd week of Jul and am pretty sure I wont be able to get the OCI in time for my trip. Hence, I have decided to go for a to...

Money taken, No email notification

Hi all I had applied for the citizenship via NCS recently(23/02). I was given a tracking number to track the parcel and it was delivered the very next day. The money was taken out this Tuesday (03/02), but unlike my friend who applied a few days before me, I haven't received an email from home offic...
