Hi, I have applied for my OCI in sri lanka. They have sent my birth certificate for verification and it is over 4 months and they have not yet responded to me. birthcertificate verfication

Now almost everything is approved.. but they wanted to verify my birthcertificate with India. They said they have sent it last week for verification from the Trichy Municipality.

Do they do this often? How long will this take usually for them to send back the verification?

If you already were an Indian citizen, then all you need is proof, thats all. It can be a birth certificate or a passport. super! thanks a lot. i've never had an indian passport as i travelled in my mother's passport out of the country and then changed then changed my citizenship when i was 2 years...

Yes, you can apply for OCI provided you fulfil the second requirement as well. Who is eligible to apply? 1.A foreign national, who was eligible to become a citizen of India on 26.01.1950 or was a citizen of India on or at anytime after 26.01.1950 or belonged to a territory that became part of India...
