However at the Italian embassy they insisted we provide proof of insurance, flight tickets, hotel reservations etc. I pointed out that these were not needed for the wife of an EU citizen they said they were . Hello, I am British citizen with Chinese wife. Whilst we were both in Uk we applied for a Schengen visa and were turned down. I am hoping to go to an Eu country with my wife to work for a few months and then both us go to the UK later this year or next. Am I right in thinking that this is allowed under EU rules?
