Re: Docs enquiry

Hi All, Hope you all are doing well. I am going to apply for naturalisation soon (non-EU ILR) and have the following questions please: 1. For absences, do I need to provide any travel tickets/receipts to show the dates I was away from the UK, or providing my current and old passports with the stamp...

Re: Travelling to Amber countries

Hi Guys, Will travelling to Amber country cause any issues when applying to British citizenship (good character, etc)? Thanks. No, as its not illegal to travel now. Thanks. Renunciation of second citizenship

Hi Guys, I hope you all doing well. This is an enquiry on behalf of my friend: she has a dual citizenship but wants to renounce her other citizenship. This will make her a British citizen only. Once its done, does she need to let HO and Passport Office know she no longer has dual citizenship? If yes...

Travel vs good character

Hi Guys,

If we travel to a country for a holiday that FCDO currently advises not to travel to, will this lead to any issues? Particularly - considering this a breach and making you not a good character and leading to refusal of naturalisation? Or this has nothing to do with these?

Thanks!

How to retain ILR BRP after naturalisation

Hi All, How do we let Home Office know we want to retain ILR BRPs after naturalisation to be able to prove our child is a British citizen by birth under section 1(1)(b) of the British Nationality Act 1981 if we or she will ever need to prove this at any point of her life? We already applied for her ...

Newborn first British passport: confusing documents required

Hi Guys, So our baby was born a few months ago an I am now applying for her first passport. She is a British citizen by birth under section 1(1)(b) of the British Nationality Act 1981: my wife and I were married and had IRL when she was born. I completed the application form and they now want me to ...

Re: Baby birth from ILR parents

Use these provisions and inform the Home Office accordingly. HI vinny, Thanks a lot for clarification. Do you know how we are going to inform HO about this? Is it during the application or after? How do we contact them? It seems we have to tick a box in the online application to confirm we will ret...

Re: Baby birth from ILR parents

@vinny argues (and I concur) that as the ILR BRP is the basis of your child's British citizenship (in conjunction with their British birth certificate), you may have legal grounds to retain it. So I would need to advise HO that I want to keep my ILR once I will apply for naturalisation then. Do you...

Re: Baby birth from ILR parents

To be honest, I would prefer to get a certificate to avoid any issues in the future (proving we had ILR when she was born, etc) but don't know if it is possible as from my knowledge, only naturalised people get the certificate not people who were British since birth, right? For children born with B...

Re: Baby birth from ILR parents

Try to keep the original, as it confers child’s British citizenship. HMPO do not normally accept copies for a first passport or after a lost passport. Thanks a lot, vinny! I assume this is only for her first passport, right? Once she will get her new passport she won't need to ever show our ILRs to...

Re: Baby birth from ILR parents

Make sure that you always keep a copy of your ILR BRP (if you apply for citizenship in the future) as your ILR status at the time of the child's birth is what determines the child's British citizenship. Hi CR001, Very sorry for a late reply - didn't notice your reply! Do I still need to apply for a...

A silly question: can border force deny entry to ILR holders if they arrive from a country that is against essential travel and requires self isolation upon arrival?
No.
Or we will just need to self isolate as per current rules and that's it?
Yes.

Baby birth from ILR parents

Hi Guys, I hope you all are doing well and healthy during these challenging times. We are expecting a baby and both are on ILR so the baby will be a British citizen by birth. Loans and naturalisation

Hi guys,

I have credit card debt and a personal loan.

I never had any missing payments, ccj, etc - I am doing my monthly payments on time every month (even though only minimum ones).

Does this affect good character requirements for naturalisation? Thanks.
