eVisa and naturalisation in progress

Hi Guys, My wife applied for naturalisation last month and had her biometrics appointment last week. Now, her ILR expires at the end of December 2024 and she already got 2 emails asking to apply for eVisa. Shall she apply or wait for the naturalisation decision? If apply, does she need to contact HO...

Re: Section 6(1) or 6(2)

Thanks for your help, everyone!

My wife only ticked the boxes next to documents required to register under section 6(1) in the online form, and wrote a cover letter explaining this.

I will provide an update once she will get her decision letter.

Re: Section 6(1) or 6(2)

Can opt not to provide details related to the marriage and explain in a cover note. She has both options, it's not dodgy to choose the one she prefers. Thanks, will try. Are you aware of other people who did like this? I tried to dig the forum but couldn't find. Just want to be on safe side to avoi...

Re: Section 6(1) or 6(2)

Even though married to British and she mentioned in form, by not providing evidence of being married to a BC application will be considered under 6(1). Providing an explanation of this to CW as you intend wouldn't hurt. So she basically need to not select the boxes next to entries related to BC in ...

Re: Section 6(1) or 6(2)

To add additional details: The system automatically decides she is applying as a spouse of British citizen (6(2)) and asks for extra documents (marriage certificate, my citizenship certificate, etc). This is probably because she mentioned in the online form that her husband is British (it has that q...

Section 6(1) or 6(2)

Hi Guys, I received my citizenship certificate 2 days ago. Now, my wife wants to apply for naturalisation too (she has ILR since 2018). Now, it is a bit unclear on which section she will qualify to: 6(1) or 6(2)? 6(1) specifically says "not married to British Citizen" whilst 6(2) says &quo...

Ceremony and travelling

Hi All,

Hope you are doing well today.

I received my naturalisation approval email and now need to book a slot for ceremony. Can I travel abroad with my ILR before attending the ceremony (so lets say I book it for 15 March, can I travel abroad and return before 15 Mar)? Thanks.

6 months period start date

Hi guys,

Online application completed and the payment made on: Sep 2023
Biometrics provided and the application submitted in FES centre on: Nov 2023

Question: Do we need to count the 6 months period from Sep 2023 or Nov 2023? Thanks.

Travel during naturalisation

Hi Guys, I believe the answer is "Yes" but wanted to double check: my understanding is that it is ok to travel abroad whilst the naturalisation application is in progress. And even if it gets approved while we are abroad, we can still travel back to the UK with the ILR without issues becau...

1. No, just the last one will do.
2. Possibly but the rules may change.
3. No, once you renounce the passport is basically cancelled so if it comes to it child will just say NO.
Thanks a million! - Bookmarked this page for the future ref.

Re: Renewing child passport

Make sure the names in the foreign passport exactly matches the names in the British passport. It doesn’t ask for valid passport. So just send the expired one. Child can’t use it anyway. There’s no rule that it must be a valid passport. Thanks a lot, both! The names match so its not an issue. I wil...

Re: Employment details

I wish I could point you to some official guidance covering your concern... However, it seems you used a valid passport for both applications, which was the requirement. I don't think UKVI nationality caseworkers are spending their time trying to trip you up. There are very few reasons why an appli...

Did you read the guidance notes at all? Most of your questions are covered in there. Yes, the Nationality Guidance says the caseworker should ask to provide another referee if the one provided does not meet the requirements. However, the Good Character Guide has a section called "False stateme...

Re: Employment details

Just that you are providing another as the first doesn't meet the requirement. You don't even have to upload the wrong referee form. It is really not a difficult application to make. Thanks a lot! Unfortunately, I already uploaded the form. Hopefully, it won't cause any issues as the referee signed...
