Hi, You and your wife both can apply ASAP/now. 5 years (or 4 years 11 months and 02 days) only applies to you in this case. Hi,

Yes if you think you will be short of five years by the end of current extension, then you must apply asap. I applied in May 2014 for 2nd extension while my 1st extension was expiring in Jun 2015, so I got three years extension till May 2017.
