Re: Independent Property Report question

An independent property report isn't a mandatory requirement. Thanks for your reply. I realise the UK Border Agency say "you should consider..." the report as supporting evidence but at the same time, on these same threads, I've seen people recommend getting the report done - especially i...

Independent Property Report question

I need an independent property report to support my wife's visa application (my Mother is sponsoring us). However, where my mother lives the council doesn't offer this service and there are no independent Environmental Health Practitioners in the area. She has found an organisation which offers a &q...

Re: Bonus payments on top of normal salary

The final payslip must be no more than 28 days old when you apply. Thanks for your reply. To be clear about the 28 days, does that mean the date when we actually apply (i.e hitting "submit" on the application form) or the date when we hand over our supporting documents combined with havin...

Re: Bonus payments on top of normal salary

Thanks - I checked out the details of the job offer letter last week and I think it all fits within their prerequisites. One other thing....if I have 12 months pay slips and 12 months bank statements to match the payslips, does it matter when the payslips were issued? For example, it may be that Nov...

Re: Bonus payments on top of normal salary

Thanks for your reply Lucapooka. Yes I have a job lined up, at least in the interim starting from January 2015 and the employer appears to be flexible with the starting date. Am I right in saying I just need to submit job offer letter as part of the application?

Bonus payments on top of normal salary

Hi all I´m sponsoring my wife from Ecuador for a spouse visa (we plan to come back together to live in the UK). We had originally thought to apply for the visa in January 2015 from Ecuador when we had enough savings in our account for a a 6 month period to meet the threshold but unfortunately it loo...

My case is that I am British, my wife is Ecuadorian and we both live in Ecuador. My wife does not have any UK residency. She is currently applying for a UK tourist visa to visit England in March with me. We also want to travel together to France during this time to visit my father who lives there. U...

I think fairness went out the window a long time ago but that is a good point. I never thought there was an alternative until the opening post. So my main concern from the angle of applying overseas is one of currency and access to savings. 1) Due to fluctuations in currency rates, how do you calcul...

This is also my case as well. Im living abroad (in Ecuador) and after the conversion rate I earn about 16k annually in my job (which is a very good wage in Ecuador and more than enough to support my wife). I was always led to believe that the job guarantee offer in the UK is a must but also your wag...

The rule changes are not as bad as they could have been (particularly the salary threshold and still allowing third party accommodation support). I like to think this that the letters we wrote to our MPs and the fuss we made has helped, so well done to everyone who got involved! One thing that is st...

Well that's that then. I thought our campaigning and delay had meant better news was to come. Worrying that the Lib Dems seem to be cowering to the Tories yet again. This is sickening. I'm no lawyer but I can't see how this legislation will not be successfully contested in court. Its the most biased...

Thanks Luca - much appreciated. You are right about the visa handler and luckily it is a friend who has just helped us get started with the application process. The best info I've found is from people on here.

Certified and apostled birth certificate needed?

Anyone know if this is required as mandatory evidence for the spouse who is applying for the spouse visa? We've had advice from a visa handler here in Ecuador and she seems to reckon its necessary but Ive not seen it mentioned in any other people's recommended documents Any help would be appreciated...

Interesting debate although I couldn't find any MP who addressed concerns about the income salary issue. They mentioned sham marriages and the need to cut the amount of spouse visas but nothing on the case of genuine UK couples who just want to live together. Krs - its a good point about the timing....

You may also want to check out the Government proposals to change spouse visa laws as they could well come into force by April 2012

thanks graham

I'm thinking of changing the last paragraph to:

If people don’t voice their concerns, these rules could come into effect by April 2012. Please show your support for this campaign and we encourage you to write to your local MP with your concerns via www.writetothem.com

what you think?

I have written the wording which will form the wall comment on facebook group page and some of the petition but would be really grateful if you could 1) check and see if there are any amends or suggestions to the wording 2) think of a title for our campaign.
