For that matter, I had included a bubble wrap envelope (with special delivery stamp) within the bubble wrap envelope that I used to send all the documents. I had folded it..

Don't worry about the fee increase as you have no control over it. If you extend now, you might need to extend again prior to ILR and that would mean that you'd end up paying nearly 180% fee.

Prior to 2010, the T1 visas that were granted were for 3 yrs initially. Hence the extension they get is for 2 yrs.
