When they say don't travel before receiving biometrics, I believe Ireland will not be an issue. It is considered a common travel area. If you haven't purchased tickets yet and you are overly concerned about this, you may want to consider flying over to Belfast ( where I am sitting at the moment ). A...

Why are they always changing the rule?

They can. And they state just that on their website under settlement!

No need to jump on me about the rules. I don't make them. As an immigrant, I need to abide by them too - including changes. Two good examples of immigration rules affecting my livelihood: 1) ILR - First entered the UK in 2000 ( but left shortly thereafter ) ILR was 4 years and 90 days per year ( 360...

If that's your only point, then you don't have one! The UKBA makes the rules and makes it clear they are subject to change at any time: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/settlement/ "The Immigration Rules are subject to change, and you must meet all the requirements of the rul...

I agree with this. I dont think all people from IT earn more than 50k. I am in the IT industry for over 13 years and in the UK for close to 5 years and managed to get past the 50k mark only few years ago. And I know that the median salary for my team members with 8 years of exp is around 42k. And m...

I agree with 'settled_now', if people are "brightest and the best" and working in IT they should be able to get more than 50k (if they want to) with 5 years experience before settlement. Thanks. Unfortunately, in some cultures, doing IT for cheaper means you are just more clever or produc...

Hi Settled_Now, it seems you have done a lots of research to say "less than 50K in IT sector is undercutting the market", can you please prove it? How about here: http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/ Those are average advertised salaries. I have never accepted a role at an advertised salary and ...

take the examples of all the foreign Nurses working in the NHS I don't really think so that they are at 35K per annum. There is a shortage in nursing. UKBA is stating that occupations where there are shortages, there will likely be exceptions. A truly functional immigration policy would allow that....

It's pretty hard to live in the UK on less than 35k - once you get that range you'll be quite aware of the cost of benefits to your net pay! I'm sure you will be able to extend your leave until you get to that salary level. At least it's possible to get ILR after 5 years. In the US, the wait can eas...

I was on ancestry also.

You need to show three months bank statements / payslips.

A letter / statement from your accountant would be fine for the month you were self-employed and the figure should of course match your bank statement.

Hi I have been looking for a directive regarding passport retention - found nothing so far. The one thing that does keep popping up in google searches is the legal status of UK passports ( I have heard a lot about this before ). It is clear from a UK point of view that a UK passport is legally a pro...

2003/109/EC is intended to allow long-term residents freedom of movement after their status has been established i.e. AFTER permanent residence has been granted. The UK has opted out of 2003/109/EC ( they are allowed to ignore any immigration related directives ). However, they have used 2003/109/EC...

When I say categorically untrue, I am saying that "HO does have an access to every applicant's entry and exit dates".

The only tool they have to go by is your passport stamps!!

Just search this forum for SAR reports and see what results people get.
