oh, good for you, you have a good chance to get the ILR. I am 1 and half month short. In a very tricky situation in all counts. I have a very strong compassionate reason. Fingers crossed they will use discretion. But , first thing first, hoping the payment will go through smoothly. Thanks pgmiot fo...

how about the payment? what method did you use to pay the fee? Are you fully qualified, or still 1 or 2 months short? I'm fully qualified had my 14 years back in mar 98. I had my visa refused once but i was never given any IS151A form or sent any removal instructions. I had 2 1/2 years gap in the m...

I don't think there is a rule which he can apply for leave. He needs to seek legal help as has been suggested(he may qualify for legal aid)Even article 8 is getting more difficult. Thanks peppekalle, i'm arranging solicitor meeting for him. Could you elaborate a bit on legal aid you've mentioned? Th...

He has got a son on DLR who has been living in the country for many years. but will that help?

The question is, is he eligible to apply under any rule?

Thanks Casa. That surely didn't come out right :?

I can't think of anything except on discretionary grounds (article 8 outside immigration rule has now been scrapped) but then that rule has become a bit complicated. is there still a ray of hope?

Your solicitor was wrong to say that you have 50:50 chances. As far as "stop the clock " rule is concerned, either you chances are 100 percent or zero percent, based on the fact if you were issued with a notice that stops the clock, or not Now best way is to look at all the home office pa...

I would say unless you have a lot of cash. Don't bother applying as if you were issued with a notice, your clock stopped from that day. I think the chances are very low you'll be given ILR under the 14 year rule. Your lawyer plus home office fee of around £3500 are likely to go to waste. You alread...

14 Year Ilr Continuous Long Residence Eligibility confusion

I went to see a lawyer today. I showed him my 'Notice of Decision' from the UKBA. He looked at the first line ".... united kingdom so are liable to be removed." and spent the whole time talking about it. He thinks the chances are 50-50. I may end up loosing the £2500 he is asking for and m...

If only i had my SAR file from the home office that would have been a big help i suppose. However, I have started gathering my documents.

Just need to get my application ready from the lawyer.
