Re: EEA4 Application

Dear Juniorcares, You don't have to worry about it. As soon as you have completed your five years as the family member of an EEA national you are eligible for permanent residence. I suppose your sponsor EEA national has been a 'qualified person' throughout the five years period. If so you don't have...

Re: British Passport new baby, born to ILR and british citiz

It is possible to get citizenship for child who is adopted let alone own child. You can get your child as British even with a non-British birth certificate which I suppose you have one. It is not immediately required to have DNA test sort of thing if you have other documentary evidence like hospital...

Re: Parent born in the UK but no longer a British Citizen

Hi, your father is British otherwise than by decent and you are British by decent. Just in case, if citizenship is renounced it can be resumed as well. So renunciation should worry anyone. And your father's birth certificate is enough proof for you to proceed on. Even if one does not have birth cert...

Re: Child born in UK with 1 parent British Citizen by Descen

No, mere by birth in the UK will not automatically confer citizenship to a child whose none of the parents are British. This was however a position before 1st January 1983. As for the second part, your wife is citizen by decent as you said. She cannot transfer it to your child. If however she got it...

Re: BC by descent, can child hv BC while born outside UK?

Hi, you mentioned you were not born in the UK and you are citizen by decent. That means you got this from your father or mother who was citizen otherwise than by decent. If it is so, your child will not be British automatically. If your child however lives in the UK for 3 years he can register as Br...

Delay in first adult passport

Hi, I have applied for my first adult passport on 15 November. It is more than six weeks now. I contacted IPS and they have said it is being processed. The answer is very vague. Anyway, if anyone can suggest me what I should do now and the probable thing that might cause the delay. So here is my sto...

Financial Requirement for spouse visa [FLR(M)]

Hi, I hope to apply on FLR(M) in catagory B of the financial requirement. I am not sure if I am qualified under this. I am on a job for just two months. Previously I have been in other jobs and including my current job I have in job for 8 months. My wife is however doing a job for more than 12 month...

Reply to Sabih

Hi Sabih, Thank you very much for the reply. Yes, I also thought in that line. 12-months is possibly the time limit and you cannot use the pay-slip older than this 12-months period but within 12-months there is no limit on the number of months. It could be 4,5,6 whatever as long as it is required fo...

Re Financial Requirement under the new rules (FLR-M)

Alternative to Birth Certificate

Hi, I am going to apply for 'Right of Abode' shortly. My father was a CUKC and on that I hope to apply. But problem is, I don't have the birth certificate as required by Home Office. Although I read somewhere, education certificate shall be accepted provided it is issued to a date close to date of b...

You need to wait for some time

As far as I know the rule is - you can apply for citizenship after completing 14 years in case of illegal stay. But for any legal stay it is 10 years. So it is 14 years for you.

Confirmation of Nationality Status

You can consult 'Confirmation of Nationality Status' page of UKBA website. It explains if you already hold a British Nationality status. I, however, understand that you are already a British national on the strength of your mother's nationality who is a citizen otherwise than by decent and capable o...

In response to pennylessinindia

In response to pennylessinindia I just cut and paste from the UKBA website: [If you were issued with a British passport between 1 January 1973 and 1 January 1983 it may be stamped with “citizen of the UK & Colonies” and “the holder has the right of abode in the UK” or “the holder has patriality ...

In response to Sussdmehta

Yes he died in 1981 yet as per law he would have become a citizen had he been alive. Although this carries no value to the deceased person but certainly carries values to his heirs. By the by, can anyone tell if a woman remains entitled to ROA if she after death of the husband gets married to anothe...

About NS Form

I believe I am a British citizen by the fact that my father was a British citizen. My father died immediate after he became a British citizen when I was a child. As I was goiing through the UKBA website I came to know that in order to ascertain if I am a British I need to apply on NS Form. This is p...

Information regarding whether or not registration was done

My father was a CUKC in 1974 and as per law he became a British citizen on 1 January 1983. My mother could never come to UK despite my father's initiative to bring her to UK. My mother again did not submit application form for British passport. In fact, my mother wanted my father to be in Bangladesh...
