Re: EEA2 pasports returned

Does this mean a non-visa national does not need a residence card too if they are settled in the UK? Firstly, no-one requires a residence card. The UK chose not to make it mandatory. That said, those who do not have one are more likely to be inconvenienced in terms of being able to demonstrate enti...

Thanks everyone here for the help.

My wife submitted an EEA family permit at the UKBA application centre in Japan on Monday. According to the processing times at the Osaka office it should be finished within 5 days most of the time..

Hopefully we will hear back on Friday/Monday!

Ok, thanks for clearing this up.

After you apply for EEA2 can you begin to work straight away or do you have to wait until it is granted - which looks like it can be upto 6 months from reading the forum!

Yes, but be careful if you take Obie's advice. To enter as a visitor under UK rules one needs to prove an intention to visit to leave (rather than enter and reside). If they suspect that she will not be leaving (and, instead, applying for residence with her EEA partner) they are perfectly entitled ...

A Japanese citizen is a visa free national, so do not require a visa. They could simply travel to the UK and apply for leave under code 1A. An EEA family permit is a national law requirement and has nothing to do with community law. Core family members of an EEA national are not Subjected to nation...

Although the EEA FP application form asks about finances, it is not required by Eu law in your case. Better to leave it out from the application. Just write N/A for that section. You are only required to show that you work in the UK so employer letter, 2-3 recent payslips (you can throw in a P60 if...

Very soon after this (hopefully we can get it all sorted when I am in Japan next week) she plans to apply for an ...

Is the EEA family permit a settlement visa?

Hello

Is the EEA family permit a settlement visa?

I assumed it is but looking at the processing times for a family permit in Japan it is in the "non-settlement" table?
