Re: Citizenship ceremony timing

You must book your ceremony within 21 days of receiving your letter of confirmation and attend the ceremony within 90 days. That's great, thanks. I applied for naturalisation in December and need to travel in April for a family wedding. If I have received the naturalisation approval letter but have...

Citizenship ceremony timing

Assuming a naturalisation application is approved, what's the time limit for when the naturalisation ceremony has to be completed? I seem to remember reading there was one, but now can't find that information anywhere.

Re: British citizenship - Queries

It would be really unusual for a Home Office case worker to hold on to your original LIUK certificate - they have to take a copy of it when you apply for ILR, perhaps that's what you're remembering? They normally give you back all of your original documents at the end of the process. This website gi...

Re: Fees not collected yet

Don't worry. I applied on 10/12/15 and the money has just gone out of my account today, so I guess your wife should expect to wait another week or so.

Re: NCS advantages compared to applying directly

NCS also offers peace of mind if you are having any difficulties filling out the form. They will go through it and check you have completed it correctly.

Re: Timings

I suspect what happens is that the applications get allocated to case workers in batches and each case worker deals with their set of applications chronologically. If your application gets allocated to a slow case worker, they take sick leave or a holiday, or they happen to have a couple of complex ...

Re: Combined applications for AN & Passport (Pilot project-H

It's all self made superstition that naturalization & passport application together make the process more quickly because ukba, council where ceremony takes and passport office all three are different entities although they are interconnected. Even I will not suggest new pilot scheme because it...

Re: Combined applications for AN & Passport (Pilot project-H

From the timelines in other threads it appears that applications for joint passport and naturalisation are getting processed more quickly than the stand alone naturalisation applications. If that's the case it seems a bit unfair that the service is only available in certain local authorities. I appl...

Re: Naturalisation - unmarried partner

It's not about the money, I absolutely dread taking passport photos according to the official rules as the natural resting position of my mouth is with my lips slightly open. So their definition of a 'neutral expression with the mouth closed' is not a neutral expression for me, I end up looking stra...

Re: Naturalisation - unmarried partner

Surely the specific guidance linked to application form AN overrides the general guidance you have posted? Your link doesn't say it applies to all Home Office applications, it specifically mentions passports, driving licenses and visas - that is, applications for official identity documents which ha...

Re: Naturalisation - unmarried partner

The photos have to conform with the same standard as passport photos. The guidance is very clear. Can you send me a link to the guidance you are referring to which says this? I am reading from Guide AN. Under Referees and Identity it says: You must include a recent passport size photograph of yours...

Re: Naturalisation - unmarried partner

Thank you very much. I just didn't want the application to be rejected as incomplete if I had mentioned a partner in the earlier section and not provided their details.

Any advice on my other questions re photo requirements and BRP?

Re: Naturalisation - unmarried partner

Oops, I meant to ask one more question. My BRP was stolen earlier in the year so I had to apply for a replacement card. The card doesn't give an indication that it's a replacement, so someone looking at it would think I'd only had ILR since May 2015. Is this going to be a problem for the naturalizat...

Naturalisation - unmarried partner

I want to apply for naturalization on form AN. I have held ILR for two years and was previously on an unmarried partner visa. Section 1.15 asks about my current marital status, and includes a tick box for unmarried partner (which I will select). Section 1.32 asks for 'details of your partner' but de...

Re: Accepted Professions (sticky)

I'm confused about the requirement for a professional referee as I read earlier in the thread that the person is supposed to have known you other than in an professional capacity. I was going to use our company solicitor at work, but she only knows me in a professional capacity. So in the field aski...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

Just to update that I got my new BRP and documents returned on 8/5/15, after submitting biometrics on 23/3/15. So the process took slightly over 6 weeks once biometrics were submitted. I can't remember the date I posted my application but funds were taken from my account on 17/3/15 so it was a few d...

Re: Travelling without a BRP

I am planning to be away for 12 days. I applied for the replacement BRP in early March and submitted biometrics on 23 March - 3 weeks ago now. Yes I have the original letter I received when I was approved for ILR, but I don't have a copy of the BRP itself. I also have a letter from the Home Office c...

Travelling without a BRP

My BRP was stolen in a burglary at my home and I've applied for a replacement card. Because the card was issued less than two years ago I didn't have to send my passport in with the application. I have overseas travel booked for May - the booking was made before the BRP was stolen. Will I still be a...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

My BRP was stolen during a burglary at my home. I applied on form BRP (RC), payment was taken on 17/3/15 and I have submitted biometrics today 23/3/15, after receiving the biometrics letter this morning. As the BRP was issued less than two years ago and I was applying for a straight like-for-like re...
