Wow, really? Longer, than a normal naturalisation application? I had no clue..

Are they at least considered in the order they're received?

Reconsideration taking over 6 months, no update

Dear everyone I have submitted a reconsideration request due to the HO case worker not considering a document for my application I've sent them. Until December, I have not heard anything from them, apart from a standard conformation of receipt letter, therefore I have contacted them using their emai...

Re: Naturalisation Refused for EEA with Permanent Residency

Thanks for all your replies. Could you enlighten me about the following: does a self-sufficient EEA national require CSI (comprehensive sickness insurance) after becoming a permanent resident (and being issued a document) to continue rightfully residing in the UK? Also, do the immediate family membe...

Re: Naturalisation Refused for EEA with Permanent Residency

At a guess there is a re entry into the UK HO has on file for her passport for one of those dates and maybe it doesn't correspond to any of the dates she put as being out of the country? Did they definitely ask for evidence of residence? As an EEA national as passports don't get stamped in or out y...

Naturalisation Refused for EEA with Permanent Residency

Dear All I would need some advice. My wife, an EEA national has received her Document Certifying Permanent Residency (DCPR) in Feb 2015 and she has applied for Naturalisation in June 2016. Now, the HO sent us a letter while we were abroad on holidays asking for an alternative evidence covering the p...

Re: Passport Application taking over 12 weeks..

Passport applications could take up to 6 weeks, but 12 is unusually long. There could be a number of reasons for this. Have you had your interview done? I would get the MP involved in this, think you have waited long enough. I gather you received no text messages, letters at all apart from 'underta...

Passport Application taking over 12 weeks..

Hi there! I have applied for my first British passport following my naturalisation in January. My application is still in the phase of 'undertaking routine checks'.. It's been over 12 weeks now and the HMPO fails to give me any update. Anyone else has been in a similar situation, then received their...

Re: Second passport interview? Anyone had similar?

I've told that I've lost it.. Which is true.. And they took a note of that. But now the examiner said that they recorded it otherwise. Perhaps the questions and answers weren't recorded accurately. From your original post, it seems that you weren't born here, so what did you tell them had happened t...

Re: Second passport interview? Anyone had similar?

Thanks for the reassurance, I really hope that's all they want to know. It's just bad timing, as I need a passport in the very near future..

Sounds like the interview is simply to clarify your intentions and use of your name/s.
Nothing more 'sinister' than that.

Re: Second passport interview? Anyone had similar?

Good prospects, as I've foolishly wanted to change my name and sent along a deed poll with my passport application .. Don't take it personally, you can be sure you are being treated impersonally. Maybe caseworker is confusing you with someone else from the same day &/or with a similar nam...

Re: Second passport interview? Anyone had similar?

True, however they told me that they will undertake further checks before offering me the 2nd interview.. I feel I'm being treated like a criminal just for wanting to get a passport. The guy on the phone told me that I will have to have the same name in my National ID (EU), Passport (EU) and my UK P...

Re: Second passport interview? Anyone had similar?

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I am half British and English is my native language, so I don't think that would have been the problem.. Therefore, I know it would be discrimination, but I cannot think of anything else. They may call it 'national security', but still.. I went to school here, university, ...

NO British Passport.. yet

Dear Fellow Members! Following a successful naturalisation, I applied for my first British Passport. I have slightly changed the spelling of my forename using deed poll. I do not have any other passports, from any countries. I had my interview on 15 February 2016 and the guy conducting the interview...

Re: IELTS Academic Not Accepted - 3 working days to respond?

I completely agree with WR1. Transitional list http://www.isc.co.uk/media/2424/selt_transitional.pdf I finally received a response from UKVI. This confirms, that Ofqual-ESOL Certificates above entry Level 3 CAN BE USED TO SATISFY THE LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT UNTIL NOVEMBER, regardless of the date taken...

Re: IELTS Academic Not Accepted - 3 working days to respond?

If someone is using the SELT route list to satisy the language requirement, there are some key points to note. The rules changed on 6 April 2015 and not in November 2015. The old SELT list became known as the transitional list and tests would still be accepted until November 2015 ONLY if they were ...

Re: IELTS Academic Not Accepted - 3 working days to respond?

Agree with fbutt50. Since this is the first time you have had to satisfy English language requirement - to apply for naturalisation (you are in UK under the EEA treaty rights and were never required to prove English language for EEA-route applications) - and that you took the exam after 06-Apr-15, ...

Re: IELTS Academic Not Accepted - 3 working days to respond?

This OP has apparently travelled by EU route (with PR) so is unlikely to have previously applied for ILR under UK settlement route. However he definitely has a valid ESOL cert & so can answer Q1.23 & recover his position that way. Just wish I could get a copy of the May 2015 version of the ...

That is the SELT-specific list. Ofcourse the Gov UK information about previous rules (& use of qualifications listed on Ofqual website) will have been removed now. This member's previous case covers a similar situation to yours ie for a person applying before November 2015: http://www.immigrati...

Re: IELTS Academic Not Accepted - 3 working days to respond?

You actually have a valid point I won't argue, my question is more related towards asking an extension for the deadline. I believe you do have a valid case to argue & would be justified in applying for reconsideration as explained in my above post or 2. Just found this: http://mailer.sqa.org.uk...

Re: IELTS Academic Not Accepted - 3 working days to respond?

Bizarre. You seem to have applied before the rules changed in November 2015. My understanding is, if your certificate was on Ofqual website it should have been acceptable (before November 2015).. - did you check if it was listed as an ESOL qualification on Ofqual website? How did you complete the A...

Re: IELTS Academic Not Accepted - 3 working days to respond?

Hi there!

I've applied on 13 October 2015. I am an EEA national, was issued a Document Certifying Permanent Residency last year and after 14 months I applied for naturalisation..

I've sat my IELTS in September 2015 in Bristol (appearantly not on the 'nice' list)..
