I have one more query - Can the possibility of getting into a legal battle be considered a compelling reason for absence? i.e., in order to avoid being sued, if I remain in India without travelling to the UK and thus create a long absence, will that be taken into account if the 180 days rule is met ...

It might just be the case that more immigrants are concentrated around these 2 areas and not as much in others... Just my guess.. Plus, obviously Croydon being the HO..

Thanks for your replies. I have a question here to see if I can extend my window of opportunity to apply - I was absent from the UK since 1st Aug 2008 with the valid WP and applied for my Tier-1 visa on the 1st Sep 2008. Can this 1 month period be disregarded? If yes, I will have some more time to t...

Total Absence 335 Days - No Year With More Than 180 Days

I have read several threads in this highly informative forum; however it is still unclear to me on how the new ILR rules effective 13th Dec 2012 is being used. Some light on that will be really useful. Here is my case: I entered the UK for the first time in March 2006 on a work permit. Stayed until ...

It will be really helpful if any seniors can reply to my above query. As for me, if I am eligible, the window I have is only between 14th - 18th Jan 2013 to send a valid application. Kindly let me know. Looking forward to hearing from you.

ILR application considered but extended to senior caseworker

Hi, I went to Croydon PEO on 30th March 2012 for my ILR application and got hit by the IT systems issue. Hence had to submit all my documents and come back. Today I got a courtesy call from Home Office, but I could not pick up since I was in a work meeting. The voicemail stated that my 'ILR applicat...

I fully understand your point. However, I made my application of Tier-1 before the 90days absence was completed. I got my Tier-1 stamped within 2.5 months after my exit from the UK. Will that make any difference?

Thanks for the replies. Is it due to the long absence or a combination of the absence and my application of Tier-1 from India and not UK?

ILR Eligibility - 9 Months Absence from the UK

I entered the UK for the first time in March 2006 on a work permit. Stayed until end of July 2008 and returned to India due to project reasons (for which I have a letter from my employer). This made a total stay of 2 years and 4.5 months in my first entry. Once I moved to India, my payroll changed t...
