I don't think there is much of an option. In my case I already have a contract (I am on Tier 1 General) and a sponsor for Tier 2 General but my employer won't allow me to work post Tier 1 expiration next month.

They play by their rules, as it's their country. Fair enough.

Thanks Vivek for the details. I will have a look at the web site.

Does anyone know if we can show 100% of the Limited Company's earning for Visa Extension or is it just 80% (i.e. minus tax deduction) please? This would mean can we withdraw 100% of dividends or not?

Thank you for your response. I am on Tier 1 General and intend to use the services of an accountant to manage the contract work. I think that will be as good as an umbrella company when it comes to managing paper work. Do you work for Company 2 as self employed or under the same umbrella as Company ...

As per the email you received, your case is complex due to self employment. I read on the UKBA site for Cardiff that they cannot consider your POE application if: your case is complex; or your case is not covered by the Immigration Rules; or your sponsor is a staff member of the Home Office or the U...

I have a related question... I will soon be setting up my limited company to work as a contractor (as director or employee). My questions are: 1. I may have an income shortfall during the visa extension next year. Is it OK for me to work with more than one client if I am the director/employee of thi...

Thanks Greenie, I do plan to invest some time into it. Applying directly may not always be an option as the right roles usually come through agents... I will where I can.

I had family commitments so I had to stay away. Well, I could still earn the required amount as my role commands a good day rate but only if I am allowed to interview! I don't think I could make a plea as its an "all or none law" either you qualify or you don't. I was reading your post els...

Apparently there is a strict key word search on CV's and if its not a perfect match they would drop you off the list no matter how extensive your experience is. Plus there is a limit of only 2-3 top CV's per agent for a job, they can't forward all. Some of it is also driven by prejudice - based on h...

Thanks Zeberga for your response. I understand I have been away for more than 180 days and ILR will be a challenge, however 3 years extension will suffice for now.

Ways to secure contract (Tier 1 extension)

Dear members, I am looking for some advise on my personal situation. I am on Tier 1 General Visa and out of work. I got the first visa in Feb 2011 and have spent the last one year outside of UK. Since the extension is now due in Feb 2013, I am in dire need of work (contract) to fulfill the earnings....

Tier 2 ICT Rules: 1. You "earn" Tier 2 ICT only after 12 months of continuous service with an employer 2. Tier 2 ICT cannot be switched to another employer (remember its an Intra Company Transfer), it needs a new CoS. 3. You can switch employers and get an ICT but that is only after spendi...

T1 - General Extension - Is it worth the risk???

Hi, I got my T1 General Visa in Feb 2011 for a period of two years. I worked in UK till June 2011 and had to return back to India for personal reasons. In the mean time I took a well paying job in India and have been working since July 2011. Now I want to return back to the UK for extension in Feb 2...
