Re: experts plz advice urgent

I'm pretty sure a CCJ is wiped after 6 years regardless of whether you have paid the debt. I had one wrongly on my credit report (slightly different name), I only found out about it when I first applied for a credit card and was refused. It was 5.5 years old so it was easier just to ride out the rem...

Re: Basic information on UK naturalisation required

There is no "5 year residence route to citizenship". Adults wishing to become British citizens need to naturalise. As said you need to have PR/ILR now, which normally takes a minimum of 5 years. The only bonus is that if you are married a British citizen, you can apply for naturalisation i...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

The eu referendum has sort of given me a kick up the backside to sort out my citizenship. Clearly living in this country since I was a toddler doesn't mean squat and there is no sentiment when in comes to immigration matters. Yes I agree absolutely. It was always something I intended to do, and I h...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

My entire immigration journey (as a single person) to ILR cost me about £5000, with each LR renewal costing above £1000 each and the last two coming to about £1800 each. While people who have been here under the EEA route quibble about the £65 that they are charged. That is absolutely savage. I've ...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

It's normally "control are borders! stop the mooselims coming in!" In reality we have some of the strictest immigration laws in Europe. Ironically the Surinder Singh route, which is essentially a method to sidestep one of our own immigration policies, benefits many British citizens a...

Re: Unsuccessful Naturalisation (AN) applications

One of the requirements for naturalisation is that you are free of immigration time restrictions for at least 12 months prior to the application. In effect, this means you should hold PR/ILR for at least a year before you apply for naturalisation. The requirement is waived if you are married to a Br...

Do I need to wait 12 months after receiving PR card?

Hopefully to clear this up as there is a lot of confusion, I will lay it down simply. (Mods it might be useful to stick this ) If you receive a PR card or document based on a qualifying period ending at least 12 months before the application is submitted, you do not need to wait before submit...

Two members have recently reported that their EEA PR documents have arrived 7 weeks after application. Re: EEA Family law solicitor

This forum has given me a magnitude of better advice than 3 different solicitors that I was prepared to pay hundreds of pounds to. In fact one of them actually gave me incorrect advice. I was close to paying a big chunk of money to help me with a naturalisation application but it seemed they were mo...

Have a read of this: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/467008/Processes_and_Procedures_v3_0.pdf It lists the actual legal requirements for obtaining a document certifying permanent residence. You do not even have to use the Home Office form, EEA(PR), you can s...

Absolutely! That will be essential. Re: Processing Times for EEA App

Which EEA application have you made? It seems the current timeline for EEA(PR) application for non-EEA citizens is right up near the 6 month target. EEA(PR) for EEA citizens is a relatively new thing (rules only changed in November) and at least one member has completed theirs in 7 weeks. You can re...

Re: Application for PR or PR card: form EEA (PR) - UpToDate

If you are applying as EEA national, you only need to fill in sections 5, 9, 16, 17, 18 and 19. TECHNICALLY you don't need to apply with the form at all, as they cannot refuse an application that doesn't use the official form. You can write a letter stating that you would like a document certifying ...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

I suspect there is some confusion and NCS people have not been properly briefed yet. It does state in the case worker guidance (I can't find the exact document now, it's the one in landscape with nice little hyperlinks at the sides), which specifically states that the date on a PR document is not in...

I think I read somewhere that you should wait at least 10 working days from the date of the application being received, if you do it sooner they may withdraw the application too.

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

You should have PR no problem. My point is that you should not have to wait 12 months after receiving your PR document before applying for naturalisation. You will hit 12 months of holding PR in February 2016, so give it a couple of weeks as safety buffer, then bang in your application.
