Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

I am now required to apply for permanent residency first, wait one year after receiving the permanent residence certificate, and then apply for British citizenship. Basically the earliest I am able to officially apply for British citizenship will be may 2017 You have almost certainly acquired perma...

Re: EEA applicant for British Citizenshp

You must obtain a document certifying permanent residence before applying for naturalisation now. As said above the application costs £65 and it can take up to 6 months so do it ASAP. If you apply for naturalisation and do not include this document your application will fail and you'll lose your £10...

Re: Changes in citizenship App from 12/11 PR Doc Required

@ANODOS Yes I submitted evidence for 6 years of exercising treaty rights. I did state that I did 11 years of compulsory education in the UK too, and provided proof of attending secondary school from 2000-2005. Unfortunately I didn't know until after I sent the application that this counted towards P...

Re: Application for EEA(PR)

Yes your parter shouldn't matter, I think you should have acquired PR in your own right providing you have been self employed for a continuous 5 year period (exercising treaty rights). As the post above says, you need to do sections 5, 9, 16, 17, 18 and 19. Completely ignore the biometric informatio...

Re: Comprehensive Sickness insurance

I have understood from the forum, that PR is merely a confirmation of your permanent residence and the 12 month cycle will start when its legally issued. For example, my mom, she acquired her permanent residence few years before she actually got her actual PR document and the date on the document w...

The latest AN Booklet says: "(...) unless you are married to or the civil partner of a British citizen, you should normally have held permanent resident status for 12 months before applying for naturalisation. This means that you may need to wait until you have been in the United Kingdom for 6 ...

Re: Changes in citizenship App from 12/11 PR Doc Required

Fantastic. I did not realise there was a December version of AN Booklet. Those two paragraphs basically confirm that it is indeed the date you acquire PR, rather than the date you acquire the document confirming PR, that matters as far as naturalisation is concerned (which is the way it should be). ...

Re: Changes in citizenship App from 12/11 PR Doc Required

The glimmer of hope I have at the moment is that none of the Home Office guidance currently says you must have held the PR document for 12 months. I did see one text somewhere saying that the date of issue of the PR document is not necessarily indicative of when PR status was acquired, and checks sh...

Re: Changes in citizenship App from 12/11 PR Doc Required

The doc certifying PR only contains the issue date, not the date PR was actually acquired hence all the problems since holding such a doc has been made mandatory when applying for the privilige of citizenship. It is a standalone document as they are not allowed to endorse EEA nationals' passports a...

Re: Comprehensive Sickness insurance

Great news. There were probably a few avenues I could have explored; my mother (British citizen) worked for well over 5 years before her death, and I also spent 11 years in compulsory education here (which apparently counts towards PR clock). However the 5 years employment route was the easiest to g...

Costs £10.

NOTE:- the data retention guidelines have changed since 17 years ago. I believe there was no set time that forces would keep details of cautions and reprimands, and some were simply deleted when they expired. So yours might not show on there.

Re: Traffic Offense/Conviction and Naturalisation

MS90 is not a minor offence, it's very serious. While a lot of people generally earn one in their absence (when a simple request for information for a speeding offence etc is not answered and thus escalates), some people purposely play the system and use the MS90 to hide a much more serious offence....

Hi, you do need a document certifying permanent residence in order to apply for naturalisation, this requirement was added in mid November. The form you need to complete is EEA(PR) and it costs £65: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/445508/EEA_PR__07-15.pdf Do...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

That is exactly my plan. I'm only planning for the worst case scenario - if my naturalisation application is rejected. From 2003 Finland has allowed multiple citizenship: A new Finnish Nationality Act permitting dual (and multiple) nationality more broadly than before came into force on June 1, 2003...
