DCPR for EEA citizens application timeline

As there is no timeline thread for EEA nationals applying for a document certifying permanent residence since the 12th November rule change, I would like to make one to see how long it takes for others. Please reply ONLY if you are an EEA citizen who has applied for the PR document, not an non-EEA c...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

But if the worst happens and I am refused, does that mean a have to leave? If there is a vote to leave, the government will likely put in place transitional arrangements for people who are already in the country on EEA permits, etc. However, crucially, such arrangements will be at the grant of the ...

Re: Gap year after apply for British citizenship

Hi, no thread yet as there isn't really any progress. It could be 6 months before I get my PR document. I'm going to request my documents back from HO at the beginning of January as I need to renew my passport before applying for naturalisation. I've got a simple timeline in my signature :)

Re: Apply for British citizenship

it seems the common understanding you have to wait another 12 months once you get the PR. Read the links noajthan posted as it's quite clearly explained there. On the contrary. HO have not confirmed what the case is. The requirements for applying for naturalisation state that you must have held per...

Re: Gap year after apply for British citizenship

I'm an EEA citizen looking to naturalise ASAP. The "document confirming permanent residence" thing was new to me too. I applied for this pretty much immediately (application received 10th December). Now I face a potential wait of 6 months. As stated in other posts and the freedom of moveme...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

Has anything been said of what will happen to EEA citizens living in the UK? I know the UK won't immediately exit; it will take at least two years. But I read the UKIP manifesto before the general election and it said there would be a five year moratorium on migrants before they would basically be k...

No, if you fall into any of those categories, you are a qualified person exercising treaty rights. If you are a student or self-sufficient, you must have comprehensive sickness insurance.

Re: A couple of questions before applying for naturalisation

If methodical and organised you can certainly apply for the privilege of citizenship without the services of a legal or immigration representative. Yes you are right. When I first started looking into naturalisation, I was scared by the length and depth of the application form. I wanted to make 100...

Re: A couple of questions before applying for naturalisation

Thanks for the reply noajthan, the reassurance is very helpful. I'm sure I will be accepted, I just worry a lot about things that I probably shouldn't and this is quite significant especially considering it is costing me the best part of £2000. I know the HO can't force me to do national service, my...

Re: A couple of questions before applying for naturalisation

Thanks, I have read all the guidance, I was just worried they would consider it as deception. Will the fact that I have lived in the UK for 24 years, my whole life, give any weight to the application?

Re: Grounds for non-EEA PR refusal if EEA national has their

Which form are you talking about? The EEA(PR) form is 85 pages long, I completed it as EEA qualified person (worker) very thoroughly and only needed to print 22 pages. The HO guidance actually says you don't need to use ANY form, as long as you satisfy the legal minimum requirements which are pretty...

If you apply through NCS can you pay by debit card on a machine at the office? Or do you still have to fill in a payment form?

A couple of questions before applying for naturalisation

First of all I would like to thank all contributors to this forum as your advice is absolutely excellent and provided for free. This is no doubt the best resource for UK immigration matters and I don't know what I would have done without finding it and I'm sure many others hold the same views. Now o...

Re: EEA Spouse waiting for BRP

Judging by the posts in this forum, most people receive it after 5 months. There was one recently who got theirs after 7 months. If you are concerned you could give the Home Office a call and ask what's going on.

Re: Citizenship Application

On the subject of benefit overpayments, I had an overpayment of child benefit and child tax credit between 2013 and 2014 to the sum of about £3500. It was an error by HMRC as they did not act on information I gave them on three separate occasions. I appealed but they rejected it (now I see why peopl...

Re: Travel after naturalisation but before passport

If you are an EEA national with a passport of your home country and you have been naturalised in the UK, but have not yet got a British passport, is there any problem with travelling out of and back into the UK on your still valid EEA passport?

Re: Permenant Residence Card required for British Naturalisa

Thanks for clarifying. I've never seen the document, only specimens of the card online, so I have no idea what it looks like but I assume it's just a sheet of paper saying "You have permanent residence" or something similar. My application for the PR document was only received yesterday, a...

Re: EEA4 fast processing times or wishful thinking

The CSI thing is insane and not publicised nearly enough. For people who come to the UK purely for further education (regardless of whether they have the intention of staying or returning home afterwards) it is understandable and I'm sure their home country will somehow give them information about t...

I think you should provide as much as you can, that's what I did. I'm sure it says in the guide that you need at least two pieces of evidence for each year.

I'm not entirely sure, so you'll need to wait for the more knowledgeable to come along. Were you paying national insurance contributions while you were in part time work?

Re: Permenant Residence Card required for British Naturalisa

I have contacted several different Immigration Consultants/Solicitors registered on the http://www.oisc.gov.uk (it’s the approved list by Home Office). I asked them whether the applicant should have held the PR card for 1 year before applying even if the PR card was issued on the basis of more than...

Re: TFL out of court settlement (Freedom Pass) - Naturalisat

OK, it's probably not what you want to hear, but I don't believe you can count the time you spent as a student towards your PR qualification as you did not have CSI which is a requirement unless you are paying NI. Once you have worked for 5 years, you will gain PR automatically and you can get the d...
