Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

We haven't found a flat yet so I highly doubt we would be able to apply for the RC in time and it would be a huge risk we aren't willing to make. I just don't understand why I wouldn't be allowed to exercise treaty rights if my EU spouse has never lived in the UK or EU. I think it is all conjecture...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

I also don't think that those families currently exercising their rights under the current free movement will suddenly be asked to fulfill the new requirements). What do you suppose would happen to me if I receive a family permit before the referendum but we both couldn't move until after June? In ...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

'In addition, non-EU nationals who are married to or who marry EU nationals already living in a host Member State will need to meet the domestic immigration rules of the first EU country they reside in.' Can someone please explain how this would effect me? I'm married and living with my EU spouse i...

Re: New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

Thanks Richard, finally a useful post among all the political stuff. This is still a matter for negotiation. The European Commission has proposed bringing forward a legislative proposal to reverse the Metock judgment and prevent non-EU nationals from acquiring free movement rights simply by marryin...

Re: VOTING IN UPCOMING REFERENDUM EU

I think a lot of people responding here may not realise that, until the 60's, being Commonwealth meant you could come here without restriction. There has since been continuous restrictions placed on Commonwealth immigration since then. A good read about it can be found here: http://onlinelibrary.wil...

Re: Comprehensive Sickness Insurance required for my EEA2?!

As far as I understand it you will only need the CSI for the period that you are/were a student. Since you are talking about an EEA2 Residence Card you should only need to demonstrate how you are presently exercising your rights. When applying for permanent residency it may pose some complications b...

Re: Jobseeker to Student

Thanks for the advice! I imagine we could just prolong waiting to apply for the permanent residency by 7 months just to be safe? So we wait 5 years 7 months, make sure it's infallable that treaty rights are being exercised without jobseeker periods for the last 5 years and then apply, that way if th...

Jobseeker to Student

Hello All, Some advice would be appreciated. I am a non-EEA family member(husband) of an EEA national. We arrived here in November so we have been here almost 7 months. I have been self-employed this entire time, my wife has been an active jobseeker, with evidence, but happened to have no luck manag...
