Re: Can i get UK absences list from UKBA

You might be able to make a Subject Access Request under the data protection act. There are details from the ICO here: http://ico.org.uk/for_the_public/personal_information and a form here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 23/sar.pdf

Weekend trips away and T1G ILR continuous residence

I'm on Tier 1 General, and will be eligible for settlement in August 2015 (under current rules... who knows what will happen before then!). The rules say that absences must be for work-related purposes including annual leave. What about absences for which annual leave isn't taken, like a weekend bre...

Absences consistent with employment

I'm working towards ILR on a Tier 1 General visa. The rule change that goes into effect today requiring all Tier 1 General absences to be explained, even non-compassionate ones, slightly concerns me. I feel a bit silly for asking this question, but I don't want to accidentally break my residency. I ...

You get to specify the dates on the form for your 12-month period. As far as I understand it, the UKBA only looks at when you received the funds, because they have no notion of "earning" them. I was in a similar position: paid on the 25th, but it's for the whole month. I used the 25th as m...

Professional sportsperson and volunteering

My Tier 1 visa prohibits work as a professional sportsperson. I'd like to work as an unpaid volunteer at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014. They require proof of work authorisation. Will I be in violation of my conditions if I work for them? Clearly not as an athlete or coach.

The addendum page at the front of the document has changed. Also the page numbers are totally messed up. They jump from page 8 to page 51. There are probably other things, but a quick skim didn't show anything serious.

It may affect your application if you apply after 1 January. The immigration rules are changing so that any "out of court disposal that results in a criminal record" is general grounds for refusal if it has occurred within 12 months of your application. See items 265 and 271 of the latest ...

If you have some other form of ID (a national insurance card and driving licence, e.g.) you could use these to satisfy your employer of your identity. You should also show them a photocopy of your bio data page from your passport, your old residence permit, and the original letter from the Border Ag...

One more thing: they're very particular that if you're using double-sided printouts, each side of the page has to be stamped. It's not enough to just stamp one side.

2 years ago when I applied for initial grant on Tier 1, I was very close to the 19 July salary band increases. I had my employer pay me early (15 July) and submitted my application the same day. Because I couldn't get the salary to show on an 'official' statement, I had the bank sign and stamp a pri...

Extension applications being processed out of order?

I see from the processing timelines thread and also from Trackitt that some applications where biometrics were done around 14 July are starting to be returned. Mine were done on the 2nd (or 3rd... something like that) and I've not had anything yet. Did they just skip 2 weeks? I was well within the 1...

Hi QuickSam:

It's question D4 on page 20. My entry clearance looks like this:

Note the red number in the upper-right, and the VAF number below it.

Immigration History question part D

I'm filling in Part D (Immigration History) of the extension application form, and have 2 questions: 1. What's the date of issue for my initial entry clearance? My Entry Clearance's "valid from" date is 08 Aug 2008. I know I received it in late June, and my biometrics appointment was 19 Ju...

@mantasingh Thanks. The rules don't say the letter has to be stamped, which is why I'm using that. The company doesn't have a stamp, or at least not one that anyone knows of :)

What qualifies as "company headed paper"?

I'm planning on using an employer letter as one of the pieces of evidence for my T1 extension. My employer usually uses laser-printed letter head (i.e. they have a Word template with the logo and address on it, and type the letter onto that template). Is this OK? Or do they have to use pre-printed s...

Thanks. The problem is not related to malice or hostility, just the speed of bureaucracy.

Does it have to be HR who provides an earnings confirmation letter? Or can it be a director or VP in my department?

When to apply for T1 extension

Hey, my first Tier 1 General expires on 4 Aug 2012. I want to ensure that I have the requisite 5 years to apply for ILR in 2015 (assuming it still exists and is not priced out of reach by then). I've been watching the forums and it seems like processing is now taking about 90 days for routine applic...

Thanks ManiKing. Is it sufficient to just print my online payslips on company-headed paper? Or do they need to be stamped and signed also? I'm not self-employed. I'm a salaried employee of the US company's UK subsidiary. We have other employees in the UK who are also remote/home-based employees, but no permanent offices.

For tax, I'm on PAYE like everyone else. I get paid in sterling to my UK bank account.

Payslips on company headed paper

My employer e-mails me all of my payslips, and they do not bear a company logo or anything. I'm also a remote UK-based employee for an American company, and we do not have offices here. As a result, there is no "formal" company letterhead for our UK operations. We do, however, have letterh...

I asked the border agent last time I crossed (Glasgow, on 19 Mar) whether I needed a minimum amount of leave left on my visa to re-enter the country. She said no, as long as your leave is current there's no problem, but if it's getting close they might remind you to send off your extension applicati...

The 80-point threshold applied from 19 July 2010, not 6 Apr 2010.
