CoS status on SMS

Hi,

Once a Tier 2 application has been looked at by a caseworker, does the relevant CoS status in the Sponsor Management System change from 'Assigned' to something else?

I seem to recall some posts discussing this but can't find a source.

Manci- yes, you're right re rlmt, I didn't realise that the op is on PSW. I still believe that an employer is not obliged to sponsor when psw expires, if they have the slightest inkling that the position may not for whatever reason they have a concern about the position not meeting skill level rules...

Has a rlmt for your job been carried out yet? If it has, the job centre assigns an soc code automatically. You could use this to argue that a particular code is applicable. I would rather suspect that your HR function is seeking to be very careful to cover themselves. Tier 2 can now only be sponsore...

I would always recommend making an application in time, even if some information is missing and a good explanation is supplied in the form of a covering letter.

They can only expedite the application if you have a good reason for it- eg. if the migrant has to leave the country within a week if he doesn't get a CoS and can't reapply for Tier 2 for a year under the cooling off period. Sponsor licence came with initial allocation. Applied Feb, decision time 7 weeks (actually the decision was made within 3 weeks as per the date on the decision letter).

if you read my post above, you would have noticed that if you currently have leave as Tier 2 established staff, you can switch to Tier 2 general, if you are applying to switch sponsors.

The rules say, 'currentlly has leave in..' , so if you changed your category after april 2010 from established to long term then you don't currently have leave granted under the previous rules.

You can ask a more experienced person whether long term qualifies, don't take my word for it.
