I think 6 months for 'family visitor' visa and 3 months for other visitor visas is reasonable.

OIC - FAQ

I am compiling this FAQ based on my recent experience. I must say things have vastly improved recently at the Indian High commission. CANCELLING INDIAN PASSPORT -------------------------------------- When must I cancel my Indian passport? This must be ideally done within 2 days of acquiring any fore...

OIC online registration

Is there a way to make alterations to Part 'A' of the online OIC application form? I can only see a 'reprint' button but no means to 'edit' the incorrect information.

Worst case, can I redo the whole thing again without being concerned about the duplicate entries in the database ?! ! ?

I was discussing this with some of my friends who have been through the NCs route. We were wondering if aspects like having a mortgage make a difference to decision making process (Do they do credit referencing?) Although getting passport in 3 days seems to be the norm for fast track applications, I...

Indian bank account for PIO/OCI holders

If I acquire BC and then get PIO/OCI card, what happens to my old bank accounts in India (the normal accounts)? Am I allowed to use them? Or do they need to be changed to NRE type account?

inheritance tax whilst on OCI

If I were to inherit property from my parents in India whilst on OCI, would I have to pay Inheritance tax in the UK?

Is the situation any different for PIO?

Thanks for your opinion ppron To play it safe, I am going to have to find another referee. Normally, the rehabilitation period for a disqualification is the length of the disqualification itself. My only reasoning was that if he is driving now, it is equivalent of 'sentence spent'. I guess I am bett...

John,

All I know is, this person was disqualified from driving for 2 years (However he is allowed to drive now). I am not sure if his ban fell under the category of 'imprisonable offences'

Given that he can drive now, I was hoping the reference would be fine.

Can dependant travel to UK on her own?

Dear All,

Recently, my friend got his wp visa stamped (along with a dependant wp visa for his wife). They were to fly out to the UK together , but due to unexpected circumstances his trip is getting delayed by a couple of weeks. Question is, can his wife travel to the UK on her own BEFORE him?

One more question...If I were to travel without getting dependant WP stamp before grant of ILR, would my daughter get LTR stamp 'on arrival' at any UK port (based on documents such as birth certificate) ?

How about this situation? My daughter was born last month (feb'04) and i am eligible for ILR in august'04. Notwithstanding that fact that she can be registerd as a BC later on, can she get ILR along with me and my wife in august without getting 'dependant workpermit' stamping in the meantime (i.e. m...
